to be recommended for dog owners only! Have realised that "pet-friendly" means bring a dog so 1.you won't mind the dog hair already there, and 2.won't notice the smell of previous doggy visitors! we booked this because of how it looked. it looked a lot smarter when the photos were taken, some years have passed since then!

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you very much for the review you and one of your children left in the book, it was very different from this one, so we had no idea you had these feelings about the property. I had to check that it was you that had left the review. You had said you had a fabulous week and your child had mentioned that they highly recommended this home in the book. We are sorry that you did not speak to us on the many occasions we saw you, as we would certainly have tried to rectify any problems. I personally clean the property every week, change bedding/towels and blankets, so am sorry if you felt there was a dog smell. As we allow dogs in the property and it is near a beach, it is inevitable that we get sand and wet dogs returning from the beach, as I am sure yours was. I try therefore to air the property and clean it as thoroughly as I can in between bookings. No one has mentioned it before and I am also quite conscious of smells, be it food or otherwise being left in the property from previous clients, so am surprised to read this. The property was re-decorated 2 years ago, this is when the pictures were taken. If I was to take photos today, they would not be that different. The property will be up for some maintenance/re-decoration by the Spring of next year. Bedding, towels and equipment is always in the process of being updated. The property was given a 9 rating a few weeks before and has always had fairly high marking. From time to time we have these reviews which seem very different from the norm and I never quite understand why.

although smaller than expected the property made up for lack of size by it's charm and location. Des and Cathy the owners were very welcoming and more than helpful in many ways.

We had a lovely time at The Bow. Short walk to a dog friendly beach was a definite plus especially as the swimming was safe. We ate out at the beresford arms, excellent food and dog friendly too.

Lovely touches on arrival treats, milk ,drinks ,flowers , sweets for children. Very clean and well equipped for children. Good location for the beach which was safe for children. 3 local pubs family and dog friendly. Negative - soundproofing could hear people next door , road noise and speeding cars. Very small bathroom - cramped with toilet and hand basin very close. Uncomfortable double bed could feel the springs. Bin too small in kitchen. Balcony decking toddlers can get their feet stuck between planks.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. The area has become quite busy in the summer months, with the beach becoming more popular, so the roads become busy too - pretty standard for beach areas. We had intended to put a shower in instead of a bath giving more room, but were advised by Cottages.com to put a bath in for families. Unfortunately it is a small space, but we will look into changing things when we re-decorate in the future. The decking on the balcony is due to be re-done. Sorry the mattress did not suit you - Beds and Mattresses are what they are and what suits one, does not suit another. That is a fairly new mattress and we have got the same in our other property and have not had any complaints at all. In fact people have complimented us on the mattress and asked us where we bought it from. We personally have those mattresses in our own home too, so feel they are of a good quality. Pleased you enjoyed the beach, liked all the goodies we supplied and we do hope you return some day.

We had a lovely time at the Bow. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and it snowed whilst we were there so it was too cold outside for our girls. The Bow was a lovely quirky place to stay and the girls enjoyed it. The book and DVD library proved very useful! We will definitely be back when the weather warms up!
