Description

A stone’s throw from Mousehole’s harbour, this apartment is ideal for couples or a small family who want to enjoy a coastal holiday.

This holiday apartment, above the owner’s restaurant, is perfect for couples looking to cosy up in the winter, walk the stunning coastal paths in spring, or laze on the beach in summer with your very own restaurant and chef on the doorstep. Sitting in the shelter of Mounts Bay, some 2½ miles from Penzance, lies the historic fishing village of Mousehole, once described by Dylan Thomas as the loveliest in England. Pronounced ’Mowzel’, the village was recorded as early as 1266, and you get a real sense of timelessness as you wander the narrow streets, while the picturesque harbour offers a sandy beach at low tide. The Boat Watch is perfect for families and also appeals to couples looking for that great get-away-from-it-all retreat, all year round. Stroll along picturesque coastal paths, laze on the glorious beaches in the summer, pick the fresh wild flowers or visit the many beautiful gardens in the area. The property offers quality accommodation, cosy and great for storm watching in the winter months. The owners run a prestigious bistro, located under the apartment and provide guests with the opportunity to experience the convenience of excellent food during their stay. There is an option to run your own tab and even have meals delivered and served in the apartment. From a full three course meal to drinks and desserts, nothing is too much trouble. The bistro has a vibrant continental feel, located on Mousehole harbour front with stunning views across Mounts Bay. There is an al fresco feel to the secluded and sheltered rear garden, ideal for a quiet drink or leisurely lunch. The area is perfect for exploring the many delights of West Cornwall and the area is renowned for its artists and crafts. Within easy reach of Newlyn, Penzance, Lands End, the famous surfing beach at Sennen, and the picturesque town of St Ives. Visit the Tate Modern or the open air romantic Minack Theatre. The Boat Watch has its own front door and private staircase which leads to the first floor apartment. The enclosed hallway and fully double glazed windows and additional sound proofing ensure the apartment is conveniently located but quiet. The Boat Watch accommodates four guests in two comfortable double bedrooms, beautifully appointed bathroom, light and comfortable open plan living room with woodburner and kitchen area with views of the harbour. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Loved the Boat Watch, perfect spot on the harbour! Apartment very clean and well kept, with added sense of style and luxury. Very relaxing place to unwind (especially out of season) it was great to people watch, and see the village in its daily life. With the added bonus of delicious food just downstairs!

Another super holiday in this lovely flat and enjoyed every minute. Right opposite the bus stop, so, although I didn't have a car, I had no problem in getting around. Lots of help and great service from Joe and his team in the restaurant below, and really enjoyed the offer of having my delicious meal brought up to the flat for me to enjoy as I 'people-watched' from above. Top marks!

I was disappointed staying here. It wasn’t a quiet location and could hear constant noise from the restaurant below. Difficult to sleep at nights before midnight when the banging and crashing downstairs stopped. No logs for the fire even though the book said additional logs could be purchased implying there would be logs there in the first place. Bathroom stank constantly of fish from the restaurant below. Chairs in need of a clean could see dirty marks over fabric. Terrible value for money would not recommend or stay here again. How it has such glowing reviews is beyond me. But then I guess you won’t publish the bad ones!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; This is our first ever-negative review in 12 years therefore feel the need to respond. A basket of logs are supplied between the 1st November and 1st April but are available all year round to purchase from the log store in the restaurant garden, this is offered in addition to all linen, towels, milk, tea, coffee, wine and bottled water which is supplied as welcome package all year round. The apartment is immaculate and on inspection, the chairs were not found to be stained or marked. We are proud to offer accommodation above our restaurant, which appears in the Michelin guide, The Good Food Guide and other highly rated restaurant guides. We pride ourselves on offering accommodation where nothing is too much trouble from takeaways to ice and lemon for your G&Ts. We wish that you had made the effort to talk to us about your concerns as we are always on hand. Joe and Kerry.

The apartment is above 2 Fore Street restaurant and the staff in there are the most friendly and helpful I have ever come across. Equipment was basic, e.g. only 4 of everything in cutlery, glasses etc, and no dishwasher, but understand that the kitchen area is only small. The position in Mousehole couldn't be better. I thought it was overpriced even for high season. Parking is a serious problem in August.

We stayed at the Boat Watch during the first week of May and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The property was cosy and comfortably furnished, located in an ideal position in the centre of the village with views across the harbour and beyond to the Lizard peninsula. The restaurant situated directly below the apartment produces excellent meals and snacks throughout the day with very helpful and friendly staff on hand to help and a traditional pub, the Ship Inn is only twenty yards away. The property is ideally suited to explore the south westerly tip of the Cornwall and we took full advantage of the opportunities provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning many times in the future.

Another great visit to the Boat Watch, our eighth time there. With the superb 2 Fore Street restaurant downstairs, it's like staying in a hotel but with more privacy and space. About to book our next stay there.
