This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

The Blue Loft is a detached holiday property, an ideal base for exploring this fascinating area of Sussex.

Residing in a rural location with views of sheep-filled fields and a glimpse of the hill top town of Rye in the distance, The Blue Loft is a detached holiday property and has a ground floor bedroom with French doors opening onto a decked terrace. It makes an ideal base for exploring this fascinating area. Once surrounded by sea and now offering breathtaking views across the Romney marshes, Rye is approximately 1 mile. Here the ancient world meets the modern with medieval streets that now offer excellent wine bars and restaurants! Hire bicycles, go fishing, play golf, stroll The Saxon Shore Way or explore the fascinating nature reserve at Rye Harbour. The golden sand dunes at Camber offer opportunities to have lessons in kite surfing, windsurfing or dinghy sailing. Or for the less energetic a gentle stroll with the sand between your toes! Winchelsea is another Cinque Port town and the beach below is a great place for shrimping when the tide is out, quite different with its shingle ridges and sense of space. It is never crowded! Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Shower room with toilet. Double bedroom with French doors leading to decked terrace. Tiled floors throughout. First floor: Double (5ft) bedroom with Velux and sloping ceiling.

Wood burner in living/dining room (initial fuel included). Electric heaters, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. DVD. Gas cooker. Microwave. Laundry service (by arrangement). Wi-fi. Garden with decked terrace and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Welcome pack. No smoking. Please note: Holidaymakers only.

This is a great place to stay as it’s a lovely quiet location but not far from anything and the lovely Rye is very close. The cottage is comfortable, clean and has everything you need. We loved the friendly sheep and the views from the decked area and the welcome pack was great and very thoughtful. The only negative thing was the heating, just couldn’t get the radiators to heat up!

Lovely break away at The Blue Loft. We hope to return again soon as the cottage and location were first class. Would thoroughly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to book a peaceful and relaxing break.

The cottage was the ideal getaway for a few days, set within beautiful countryside yet only a few minutes drive from the coast. Taking the footpath through sheep fields to Rye takes a pleasant 30 minutes and you could hardly find a more charming little town with so many historic buildings - truly stunning! The cottage was spotlessly clean with a really comfy bed. It was delightful to draw back the curtains in the morning and be greeted by the 3 tame sheep saying hello - we spent lots of time with them as they are so cute! The view from the decking outside the bedroom was idyllic, over the sheep fields towards the rooftops of Rye to the sea in the distance. The friendly owners made sure we had settled in, then left us to ourselves but were on hand if we needed them. The cottage was very well equipped with lots of nice little extras, although (to be really picky) it would have been useful to have a small freezer. We visited a few nearby National Trust places as well as Dungeness - well worth a visit for its "desert" scenery. All in all, The Blue Loft is a brilliant place to stay if you're looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting but with easy access to many interesting places. Definitely recommended!

Wonderfully situated. Very quiet next to farm land with sheep and lambs. Owners onsite but leave you alone but available if required. Very nice welcoming people. Cottage is very well appointed with all necessary amenities.

Despite the poor weather, during our stay, we enjoyed a lovely, cosy and relaxing holiday. There were problems with the new heating system but prompt action, by the owners, meant that we were always warm and comfortable. The location was perfect; within easy walking distance of pubs, restaurants and cafes. The owners were always very friendly and helpful.

Lovely cottage, beautiful surroundings, lovely owners, only downfall is in the colder months it is not that warm inside but the provided extra heaters and blankets. Very cosy and relaxing and everything you need provided. Welcomed with complementary wine, scones and sweets. I would definitely stay again
