Tucked away in peaceful countryside on the edge of the Lincolnshire and Rutland border, this beautiful barn retreat is perfectly placed for exploring one of England’s most charming rural areas. Surrounded by open fields, quiet footpaths and historic estates, it offers the ideal setting for long walks, relaxed countryside living and quality time with family and friends.
The barn sits along a quiet public footpath between the villages of Uffington and Barholm, making it a wonderful base for walkers. From the doorstep you can follow miles of scenic routes through rolling farmland, along hedgerows alive with birdsong and across peaceful rural landscapes. Wildlife is abundant here, with regular sightings of deer, red kites, owls and woodpeckers, while the wide Fenland skies create spectacular sunsets and star-filled nights.
Just four miles away lies the historic market town of Stamford, widely considered one of the most beautiful towns in England. Its honey-coloured stone buildings, cobbled lanes and lively market square are filled with independent shops, cafés, traditional pubs and excellent restaurants. The town is also home to the magnificent Burghley House, one of the grandest Elizabethan houses in the country, set within a vast deer park that hosts events, gardens and scenic walks throughout the year.
The surrounding countryside is rich in heritage and character, dotted with historic villages, ancient churches and country pubs that make perfect stopping points after a long walk. The nearby Fenlands provide wonderfully flat cycling routes, ideal for exploring further afield at a leisurely pace.
The barn itself is a hidden gem, beautifully converted to combine original character with relaxed contemporary comfort. The spacious open-plan layout includes a large kitchen with an Aga, dining table and seating for gathering together, flowing into a cosy living area with comfortable sofas and a wood-burning stove. Large arched windows fill the space with natural light and open onto a charming kitchen garden with outdoor seating and a home built charcoal barbecue.
Sleeping up to seven guests across three bedrooms and a loft-style sleeping gallery, the barn is perfect for family reunions, friendship groups and multi-family countryside escapes.
