Lovely apartment, welcoming hosts, lots of extra touches to make you at home. Ben is a font of information about the local area. Plenty to see and do & some very good pubs nearby for food.

Unfortunately, the Apple Loft was a real disappointment to us: the bed was too small and not only too soft but also extremely wobbly (every single movement seemed like a jolt). Not only is the street to the cottage louder than we expected (we thought it was a rural and small street with very little traffic) but also the main road (B4632) only about 300 yards away, which makes it a little too loud with the bedroom facing the street. Apart from the kitchen not being very practical (chopping boards missing etc), things did not seem to be as hygienic as at first sight: the dishwasher reeked and did not seem to have been maintained in the months before and we had to descale the kettle; very unsettling was the feeling that the bedlinen was not really clean: from the first day on there was this waft of sweat and strange perfume around, leaving the impression that the pillows themselves and the duvets had not been dry-washed for a very long time, something we have not experienced in any other accommodation in these last three weeks although we have spent a couple of nights in different hotels. The fact that the adjacent building was a building site that we directly looked on to from our balcony was not very comforting either; however, we must concede that absolutely no noise came from that side as they only worked when we were out oft he house. Although Ben was very obliging and gave us great tips on the sights and surroundings, this could not make up for the inconveniences we had.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were shocked and saddened to see such a low score in all the years we have been running our property. We have won the customer choice award in 2017,2018,2019 for customer satisfaction on a score of over 9.5. Yours is the first critical review we have ever received. The bed is a standard double with an expensive memory foam mattress on a solid Oak frame. The Apple Loft is situated on a country Lane which is not noisy. The kitchen is well equipped including several chopping boards (4). The apartment is immaculately clean and everything is maintained to the highest standards – see previous reviews. We are always scored highly for cleanliness. Our neighbours have been taking down an old farm building this work was never done whilst you were holidaying in the Apple Loft and should not have affected you in any way. We were on site for the whole week you were here and spoke to you several times, the only problem you raised was with the shower, which we replaced on the same day (Sunday) while you were out. We are reassured by the fact the majority of our guests do enjoy their stay as evidenced in our other reviews.

Excellent stay, in the same grounds as the owners who at no time are intrusive although extremely helpful on advice about the local amenities and places to visit and eat out. The cottage is immaculate well equipped, great balcony with lovely views which we used every morning for breakfast and in the evening for drinks. On the lower garden there is and Arbour with a table and chairs. On our arrival we where welcomed with freshly made cakes, chilled wine and flowers. Plenty of parking space for the car. The village has a NISA store, Post Office, Green Grocers, Butchers and three pubs. Lots to see and visit in the area and National Trust properties.

Brilliant time at the cottage. Only annoying thing was the long mirror behind the door being too far from a socket to dry hair but such a minor problem in such a great location. Lynn and Ben are great hosts and a mine of local information. The views are great, the locality bar a few trains in the distance idyllic. Birds, trees and flowers everywhere to be seen. Just a great holiday.
