Very comfortable and cosy cottage with an historic past. Nicely decorated fot Xmas. Beautifull garden. Nice to know is that for tall people the entries of the rooms are low.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback, glad you enjoyed our cottage at Christmas - we do try to make it Christmassy with lights, tree and decorations. The cottage is a 17thC building, lots of beams in the main rooms and the website makes it clear there is restricted headroom at the main bedroom doorway. One has to climb over a beam. The barn annexe has no restricted headroom areas.

Thatched Cottage is a credit to the owners who have created a gem of a holiday home full of character, complete with exposed beams, thatch (of course), interesting nooks and crannies, very nicely furnished and provided with all the amenities required for a very comfortable stay. We were 3 couples and were all delighted with the cottage and especially with the experience of staying in such a nicely restored property.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you, your positive remarks are much appreciated by all of us who look after Thatched Cottage. It makes all the work worthwhile. We keep a constant eye on what to do to provide as perfect stay as possible. Next up are two new interlined door curtains to make the sitting room even cosier for this winter. Many thanks - you are most welcome.

A lovely presented cottage retaining its traditional charm, lots of space to spread out in and with a big enclosed garden for our 2 dogs - exactly what we wanted from our stay in Suffolk. The Thatched Cottage fitted the bill perfectly.

A very nice cottage with superb large enclosed garden. Bit disappointed no welcome pack or milk on arrival.Had a issue in the kitchen area with flies whilst cooking which was a pain.overall we had a superb weeekend and weather was great.shops very local and only 10 min drive sea front.Local people very friendly and superb places to walk.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; So glad you liked the cottage and had a good time. We do provide tea/coffee etc. for an arrival drink and are sorry the milk was forgotten for your stay. As for the flies, agree they are a pain - exceptionally bad year for them - though we provide spray, sticky tape etc. and are looking into spraying inside the roof void, just in case.

We had an ok time and the cottage is well positioned between Aldeburgh and southwold. Sadly it was infested with flies! I estimate about 100 mostly in the kitchen. It took the three days to get rid. Not what I was expecting. So many! They didn’t seem to want to leave. As they were In the kitchen this put us off cooking. It could do with a deep clean under and around the top cupboards. Can I suggest you have a folder or book of information telling people when the binmen come, local amenities, pubs, shops etc as I didn’t see anything. Beautiful cottage but sadly would not book again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comment that the cottage is beautiful. We have made a visit to check on things and found no flies in the kitchen or infestation of flies when we were there. We spoke to our gardener and he has confirmed that it’s been a “bad year” in Suffolk for both flies and wasps due to weather and natural conditions. They do tend to come out in August and hot weather and it seems you were unfortunate in being at the cottage during such a visitation. After rain and in cooler temperatures, these creatures are barely noticeable. It is a natural phenomenon - our gardener deals with any nests he finds and we also have a pest control contractor who monitors the property for unwanted visitations. We are surprised that you didn’t find the bin collection and other info. The Red book with info on the cottage and local amenities, Purple book with fire escape info and the bin collection calendar are always on the kitchen worktop as one enters the kitchen door. They are hard to miss. There are also 2 baskets full of tourism info, maps, local places and events on the study desk. All the info is in an obvious place so visitors can find it quickly.
