Tawny Cottage is a fabulous, converted, luxury holiday property nestling in the grounds of the owners property in countryside three miles from Blairgowrie in Perthshire. The interior has been tastefully decorated and beautifully co-ordinated. Outside, to the rear of the cottage, there is a raised deck which provides a private and secluded spot to relax. It has a fantastic sunken hot tub for you to enjoy after a day’s activities. Downstairs the cottage has an open plan living space. The lounge area has a wonderful log effect gas stove which is remote controlled. From the comfort of the sofa you can enjoy the view through the patio doors. The kitchen area is fully fitted and well equipped with a wooden dining table and leather chairs. There is a downstairs shower room and a main bathroom upstairs. On the first floor the rooms have combed ceilings with Velux windows. The bedroom has a king sized bed and there is also a second TV. Tawny Cottage will accommodate one well behaved dog. Please be aware that the garden is not enclosed.
This tastefully converted holiday cottage provides a fantastic base to explore the stunning Perthshire countryside. There is so much on offer here, with something to experience for all ages and interests. Right on your door step there are numerous trails and quiet back roads where you can enjoy walking or cycling. There are five lochs connected by the Lunan Burn, some are within easy reach providing great opportunities to go fishing and to canoe or kayak (permission required on some lochs). Loch of Lowes is looked after by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and a must for bird watchers – in the summer you may see Osprey, Great Crested Grebe, otters, red deer and red squirrels to name a few.
Blairgowrie is your closest town and it has a great selection of shops and eateries. It has two championship golf courses – Rosemount and Lansdowne – plus there are numerous other courses to be found in the surrounding area. Take a drive past the amazing Meikleour Beech Hedge – officially the tallest hedge in the world! The Glenshee Ski centre is just 35 minutes’ drive, beautiful to drive or walk around in summer, and ski/snowboard in winter. For adrenalin seekers there are many outdoor pursuits such as white water rafting, cannoning and even a bungee jump. For a more relaxing adventure there are some wonderful drives through magnificent scenery. In the summer months there are many soft fruits grown locally, especially raspberries.
Dunkeld is only seven miles away and is the oldest town in highland Perthshire. It is a cathedral town which sits on the banks of the beautiful River Tay. On the opposite bank lies the Victorian village of Birnam. They are linked by the magnificent Telford Bridge which was built in 1809. There are wonderful castles to visit from Scone Palace to Blair Atholl. Whisky lovers can enjoy sampling some of the locally produced ’water of life’ after a few distillery tours. The City of Perth, to the south, has a large selection of shops, restaurants, leisure facilities, cinema and theatre. Pitlochry, to the north, also has a fantastic theatre which boasts a different show every night of the week. During the autumn Pitlochry is home to the wonderful Enchanted Forest – an open air light and sound show. Tawny Cottage is a great cottage to stay in, with a fantastic countryside location and with easy access to explore central Scotland and in particular stunning Perthshire.
