Description

Step back in time at Beamish Open Air Museum or enjoy a spot of retail therapy at the Metro Centre both easily accessible.

These two delightful holiday cottages (Refs MRA and MRB), each with its own history, are tastefully converted from former barns dating back to the 1600s. Retaining character and charm, they lie in a peaceful setting overlooking countryside with many cycle tracks nearby. Ideal walking and fishing country, yet close to famous attractions - visitors can step back in time at the Beamish Open Air Museum or visit the Metro Centre (a shopper’s paradise), Hexham (with its glorious abbey), Durham City (a city of contrasts, with its fine cathedral and designer shops), or the Northumberland coast, which are all within an hour’s drive. The medieval castle of Raby has a 200-acre deer park and is a firm favourite with visitors. An ideal location to explore all the surrounding AONB. Shop 500 yards.

Adjoins owner’s home. Open-plan living/dining room with gas ‘coal-effect’ fire in feature black fireplace, limestone slate floor and large modern kitchen area. Open-tread stairs to first floor: Two double bedrooms, each with TV. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment, toilet and tiled floor.

We loved our stay at this charming cottage, our hosts were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation is spacious and well equipped. Our only problem was that there was no separate toilet, the only one being in the bathroom. The cottage has no shower either. These were difficulties because there were 6 of us staying there.

My sister, her family, my three kids and I stayed here for long w'end over Easter. The house was perfect. It was very spacious with large kitchen and bedrooms. There were TVs to enjoy in every room. The gardens were lovely too. The location was ideal for visiting Newcastle & Durham. Even Roker Beach in Sunderland was easily reachable. We just needed some SUNSHINE ;-)

My family and I spent all Christmas at the two cottages John Wesley and Methodist Cottage. We had a fabulous time, and you could not wish for more. They were very spacious, clean, comfortable. We were living the dream. Thank you to the owners who put up Christmas trees and decorations which made us feel at home.
