Chesil Beach, one of the finest barrier beaches, begins at West Bay. Lyme Regis with its Cobb and the famous fossil beach at Charmouth are close by. Not far away is the ancient town of Dorchester with its Iron Age hill fort and Roman town house and many other sites of historic interest. Spend a day at Abbotsbury Swannery, the only place in the world where you can walk among the baby swans (hatching from May). Golf course and leisure centre nearby. Bike hire available locally. A very welcoming and comfortable cottage. The central location gave great access to various places on the Jurassic coast. A bit remote regarding shops, pubs, restaurants etc, as it was necessary to drive to these places.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are pleased that you thought Sweet Briar welcoming and comfortable. It is a good central location for exploring this wonderful AONB and the amazing Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. Many guests do without their car whilst staying at Sweet Briar preferring to walk in to Bridport taking about 20-25 minutes, strolling by the river. Walking to the coast at West Bay takes about the same time and and you can enjoy the walk through the nature reserve and along the old railway path.

My husband, daughter and our two furry babies spent two weeks in the lovely garden cottage. The welcome gift of a beautiful cream tea when we arrived was a perfect finish to our long day of travelling. We spent many days in the lovely garden sunning ourselves and found the piece and quite of the village location rejuvenating. It was also the perfect base and location for us to explore many beaches and towns along the coastline. The couple who own the cottage couldn’t have been more helpful. Thanks

Response on behalf of the owner; We are so glad you had a wonderful fortnights holiday at Sweet Briar and thank you for your kind and positive feedback, we really do appreciate it. It was lovely to meet your family and your two gorgeous dogs especially Balloo Bear. We hope to welcome you to Sweet Briar again soon.

This apartment is in an ideal location for exploring the Dorset coast. Bridport and West Bay are well within walking distance and there are excellent longer walks from the door. The apartment is well equipped and comfortable. A major drawback is the noise from the upstairs apartment. Every footstep can be heard and seems to reverberate around. There was also a dog upstairs when we were there and we could frequently hear its tail thumping on the floor.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are so glad that you found Sweet Briar well equipped and comfortable. We are sorry that you were not completely happy. The property details do state that Sweet Briar is in the wing of an old country house. When the wing was built many years ago, the ideas and machinery were not available to sound proof it in the same way that modern blocks of flats are now built. The holidaymakers above you had to go early, leaving on the Tuesday and so most of your holiday would have been without any sound above. It is always a good idea to read the details carefully and look at the photos of a holiday property before you book, so that you can be sure to holiday in a property that suits your particular requirements.
