Sunloch Cottage is a pretty, end-of-terrace cottage, located in the small hamlet of Tregaseal, in the heart of a peaceful valley with a stream running through. Comfy sofas for a cosy evening in front of the wood burner during a winter break, and a long front lawn, garden and patio for summer evenings, make this property appealing to small families or couples looking for a relaxing romantic break. The area has lovely walks, a small craft shop and is just ¼ mile from the busy square of St Just with its array of shops, including a butchers, bakers, fruit and veg shop, two small supermarkets, post office, four pubs, tea rooms and art galleries. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the stunning coastal paths, and the area has World Heritage status for its mining history, with the famous Crown Mines dotted along the rugged coastline. The area and coastline was used for the Poldark TV series. There is easy access to nearby Cape Cornwall, beautiful Sennen Cove, legendary Lands End and the beautiful cove and beach at Porthcurno, overlooked by the romantic Minack Open Air Theatre. The area attracts walkers, bird watchers, water sports enthusiasts, beach lovers and those interested in history and mining heritage. The fresh fish market at Newlyn, the pretty harbour and village of Mousehole and St Michaels Mount at Marazion all within easy reach. Take the scenic coastal drive from nearby Pendeen to St Ives, over heather clad moorland passing Zennor, famous for its mermaid tales. Or take a delightful day trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly by small plane from Lands End Airport. Beach 2 miles. Shop and pub ½, restaurant 1 mile.

This is a lovely property and for what we paid was excellent value for money. The owners have obviously given a great deal of thought to ensure that adequate provision has been made for the needs of their guests. It would have been helpful to have a little more information when arriving as it was difficult to find and has an unusual access via next door's path. We are sad to see that the price has increased quite considerably for next year and that puts this property outside our budget even though we would have happily stayed here again.

This is a lovely cottage based just outside St Just. We enjoyed our time there, but have one or two irritations that means we wouldn’t return. However, I want to emphasise that the interior was lovely and spotless. Firstly, there is no ‘patio’ at the back. Rather it’s a couple of flagstones that forms part of the rear pathway for all residents. Secondly, there is a set of non-regulation stairs that are tricky to navigate. Normally, I bring my elderly father but fortunately not on this trip. I think these stairs should be more clearly advertised in the cottage advertisement. Thirdly, parking is quite tricky in the lane at the front of the house. A farmer struggled to get his tractor through one afternoon, as a neigbour’s car stuck out a little further than others. As I was trying to help, the driver of the tractor said, “I’m coming home though; they’ll be insured.’ No damage was done but not he most neighbourly remark on our second day.

Sunloch cottage is an excellent and well-equipped base for the West of Cornwall. It is very comfortable and well equipped - and there is a lovely front garden that is perfect for sitting out in the evenings. The cottage was lovely and clean and a real home-from-home. There is plenty to do nearby whether you want beaches, walking, cycling or general sightseeing. We can thoroughly recommend St Just - the town is just a (steep!) 10 minute walk away and has four nice pubs/hotels, a good choice of food and an excellent butcher and a greengrocer, as well as a Co-op, a small convenience store and a post office. A couple of minor suggestions - the extractor fan in the kitchen is very noisy and may need a service, and the lack of a blind in the bathroom is a little surprising, given the proximity of another property.
