On arrival, every effort has been made to ensure guests will instantly feel at home in Suisnish House. All the furnishings have been cared for over the years, adding to the novelty of staying in a family home in the Highlands. Guests have plenty space and the comfort to relax and switch off from the wears of modern life. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need for your stay and the living area benefits from a wood burner, there is also a sitting room across the hallway which is the ideal playroom for kids, or a quiet space to enjoy reading with the beautiful views out the front. This room also has a wood burner to make those evenings extra cosy. There is a lavish dining room, providing the perfect setting for celebrations and many a memorable evening.
Upstairs are the bedrooms, varying in size and styles, they are all very comfortable, and can sleep up to 15 guests in total. All bedrooms except one come with a vanity sink, and two of the bedrooms have shower rooms too.
Outside, the property is surrounded by 8 acres of private grounds, complete with a partially walled garden and expansive lawn - perfect for lawn games with the children! The games room has table football, a dart board, and a mini pool table. There is also an additional free-standing fridge for extra storage. Just outside the games room is an additional chest freezer also. Opposite is the utility room and toilet. Keep your eye out for schools of porpoises, and if you’re lucky the occasional whale can be spotted too!. Sea otters and eagles are common sightings too. Fishing is available on the lochans (brown trout) by permit from Raasay Hotel, where snacks and meals are also available. A number of outdoor activities are also run from the Raasay Hotel, and offers a great way to do something different whilst staying on the island (advanced booking advised).
There is a selection of walks around the island, and more information can be found on the forestry commission website. Locally there is an excellent selection within the community shop, which can be reached in under a 10-minutes’ walk, the Raasay distillery is a 25-minute walk, and the Raasay Hotel is a 35-minute walk. Only a 25-minute ferry journey from Skye, and only 5-minutes drive from the ferryport (visible from the front window) Raasay is perfect for those who are looking to really get away from it all, but have plenty choice available on your doorstep, or simply pop over the water to Skye. The beach is accessed via a pedestrian gate opposite the main entrance gate to the house.
