Stone’s Throw is a charming holiday home for 4 that’s just a hop, skip and a jump from the beach.

This contemporary, detached bungalow has been renovated throughout, provides stylish accommodation and is ideal for a holiday at any time of year. Situated in the coastal village of Bacton, this detached bungalow is located in a quiet cul-de-sac just a short stroll from a sandy beach. The living room has a feature ornamental fireplace, French doors lead from the conservatory to the garden, and there is a large gravelled parking area with a garage. The seaside resorts of Cromer and Sheringham are just 12 miles away, as is Wroxham, the ‘Capital of the Broads’. The stark natural beauty of the Broads is best appreciated from the water, and with daily river trips or boats to hire, Wroxham is as good a place as any to start down the River Bure. A day at the outdoor tree adventure park BeWILDerwood in Horning is sure to leave children in high spirits, and nearby Bacton Woods is ideal for cycling and woodland picnics. For avid gardeners, a visit to the Old Vicarage Gardens at East Ruston is a must in the summertime, and golfers won’t be disappointed with the courses at The Royal Cromer and Mundesley. National Trust properties in the vicinity include Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham Park and Horsey Windpump. Visit Horsey Beach between December and February for your chance to spot hundreds of grey seals and pups along the shore. Alternatively, the historical city of Norwich boasts a number of theatres and museums, cobbled streets lined with shops and cafés, along with an outstanding cathedral. Walking, cycling, bird watching and sea fishing are also available locally. Shop 750 yards, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

All on ground floor: Living room with patio doors/dining room. Kitchen. Step to conservatory with French doors. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Gas hob. Double electric oven. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Large enclosed private garden with patio area and furniture. Barbecue. Bike store. Ample parking. No smoking.

A lovely clean bright and comfortable bungalow in a nice quiet location a real home from home. The garden was very dog friendly with the added bonus of Bacton woods a five minute drive away for long runs. Would definately recommend this bungalow

Lovely bungalow with good secure garden for the dogs within easy walking distance of pub/café etc. Best information file on the area and activities we have come across too. Light, bright and airy lots of lovely little extra's such as dog treats, kitchen sundries etc in a quiet cul-de-sac. Might be a bit snug for 6 adults especially with one compact bathroom, having said that there is everything you need. Could do with a second key for the property to save tooing and froing, and probably due a deep clean as we had to wipe out drawers before putting clothes in and wash the crocks before use but nothing major with would stop us staying again. Would recommend.

Lovely well presented cottage, well equipped with everything you might need. Great location, so close to the beach and a dog friendly pub serving good food. Massive downside for us was trying to stay warm in the cottage evenings and overnight. Outside temperatures were below freezing and it was so disappointing to have so little control over the central heating system. Would return but not in winter. This is the reason we have marked down some scores. I'm sure in the summer We would score far higher.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, however, neither myself or my housekeeper were made aware that you had any issues with the heating in the property, and if we had been, we would have been able to resolve them immediately. There is a label on the thermostat explaining how to turn the heating up and the House information folder clearly explains that the heating is on a schedule and that this can be overridden at any point by turning the thermostat up. There really was no need for you to be cold.

Stones throw was not the cleanest place we've stayed...dust under sideboard, mould around the bath plug mechanism, pipe to the shower was dirty and cobwebs all over. The worst thing for us was that the landlord had total control over the heating, which was not on the information. The bungalow was freezing when we arrived and after phoning and texting the landlord he did increase the temperature! But even when we turned it up you could clearly see it was being turned down in the evening. There was no other form of heating. The maintenance book had comments from other previous guests that said the bungalow was cold, especially a mother with a 5 month old baby staying in December that she couldn't keep her baby warm. Other than that the bungalow was nice and in a nice area, close to the beach. Although the bungalow sleeps 6 we felt that with only one bathroom and a small kitchen, it would have been very cosy for 6 people!!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry you felt obliged to give us such a low score and I would like to comment on the issues raised. Regarding the heating; The house was cold when these guests arrived as they were a day early and so it wasn’t on. I don’t have total control of the heating, as I explained to the guests at length, it is on a programmable thermostat and turns the temperature up and down during the day, but can be altered at any time by turning the thermostat up. Apart from an initial small issue with the heating which we went out of our way to resolve, we heard nothing further from the guests about it until after their stay. Regarding cleanliness, all other guests comment on how clean it is and we have an average of over 9/10 on Reevoo for cleanliness, so a 6 is very low in comparison. We did everything we could to try and help the guests during their stay. They didn’t report any issues to us about cleaning or comfort and Stones Throw is extremely popular and all other feedback has been very positive.

A lovely cottage in a quiet area with a nice and secure rear garden. The cottage contained everything we needed and was well presented and information in the property was 1St class. Lovely cottage ideally situated, especially if you have a dog, would definitely go again

Stones Throw is a modern bungalow situated 100 yards from the sea which we felt comfortable in and very much at home. It is very well equipped and has wifi which is a real bonus as our mobile phone signal was very poor. We love the area and enjoy the local coastal walks especially Happisburgh beach and Bacton Woods is a 5 minutes drive away, so there are things to do if you don't want to travel. All in all we had a very enjoyable week and would certainly consider staying in Stones Throw again.
