A large sauna (eight persons) and fitness room has been installed. Outside the paved terrace provides an excellent vantage point to observe the valley’s wildlife. A relaxing plunge in the hot tub can be enjoyed at any time, especially at night for star gazing. The lodge is a starting point for a variety of country walks. Blackbury Camp, an iron-age fort, can be visited on the way down to the sea. The coastal path will take visitors through spectacular scenery, much of which is managed by the Natural Trust. Alternatively a trip on the old electric tram railway departs from nearby Colyton, along the Axe estuary marshes to Seaton to enjoy the traditional seaside atmosphere. Lyme Regis offers an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns around its famous harbour, The Cobb. The regional capital and cathedral city of Exeter is about a 40-minute drive. Our three families were really impressed with the size and amenities supplied with the property, and feel that the photographs on the website do not do it justice. The owners could not have been more helpful, and were always on hand to answer any queries. They made the whole stay much more enjoyable as they provided lots of advice and information on things to do and places to go. The cream tea on arrival was very much appreciated.

The location of the cottage was however very handy for exploring Seaton. Beer, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Exeter and it was well equipped with crockery and cutlery although the kitchen is very small if you wanted to cook a meal for 10 people. We ate our evening meals at local restaurants so did not attempt to cook anything. The cottage details state that the nearest beach is 2 1/2 miles away but there is no footpath to it and the drive to it is down very narrow roads and is more than 3 miles away. The details also state that there are TVs in all the bedrooms but apart from the lounge that has Sky, the TVs do not work as they do not have aerial leads and so TV can not be accessed. We were told that the TV signal is very bad in the area.

Had an absolutely fantastic time at Stockholm lodge. Lovely cottage for a group of people. The owner was very welcoming and the lodge beautifully done out. The hot tub and sauna were an added bonus. The views are beautiful to look out onto, perfect for a relaxing break. If there wasn’t only one slight negative would be the beds. They are not the comfiest, but the surroundings definately make up for it. Would defiantly visit again.

Barn conversion completed 8 years ago and might have got 5 stars then but is now in need of some TLC.Doors and window frames need attention and kitchen very tired. The mattresses are cheap (silent night monterey £100) and very uncomfortable definitely not what you expect for 5star accommodation and the double mattress downstairs was impossible to sleep on with a big mound down the middle. Very large bedrooms but no furniture, no wardrobe or hanging space, no mirrors. TVs in all bedrooms are just ornaments as don't have aerial leads as there is no signal. SkyTV works downstairs and there is internet but usual rural problems which can't be helped. Take slippers as no shoe policy in barn and polished stairs are very slippery and floors cold.

We had a lovely Easter weekend at Stockham Lodge the rooms are all very comfortable all with en suite which was great as we were 2 families and mother. The views are breathtaking and so peaceful we didn’t need to worry about the children with noise playing in the garden. The hot tub and sauna were an added bonus after a long walk.

Beautiful accommodation, all bedrooms are en-suite, stunning views, my only (small) criticism is the siting of the hot tub which is at the side of the house and not easy to get to in the dark - perhaps some lights along this route and somewhere to put clothes, towels etc? Booking was messed up by website but this was not the fault of the owners. Would stay again

Was a short stay but was lovely to spead time with the family, celebrating a 60th birthday. Nice to get away from the hecticness of life and only have the noise of the birds in the morning to wake up too. A wonderful property, loved the style and layout. There was smalls issues - on the first night we turned on the small gas fire but has to turn it off due to the strong smell of gas, the large one in the dinning room was fine. No outside lights, think we found the switch but didn't work. Couldn't use the wet room shower at all, the drain is blocked as it does not drain away at all, so floods within 30 seconds, but plenty of other bathrooms to use so wasn't an issue. There was a pin required to watch films before 9.00pm and we didn't have the code, so we watched other things. But these are all so minor it didn't stop us from having a great time.

Excellent New Year stay. Took the family for New Year and enjoyed the house and countryside. Well equipped kitchen and very clean. Plenty of hot water and luxurious underfloor heating. We enjoyed the hot tub on New Years Eve which the owners had preheated ready for us and the whole garden was enclosed making it a safe area for the dogs. Would highly recommend !
