Explore Skipton with its castle, market and canal trips, or head to out to explore the grandeur of the Dales

Set in a small hamlet just 1¼ miles from the centre of Skipton, this carefully furnished and co-ordinated detached barn conversion provides a wonderful, secluded getaway from the bustle of everyday life. It lies adjacent to the owner’s home and is well placed for rural walking direct from the door up and around Sharphaw, or alternatively you can walk into the bustling market town of Skipton where the Norman castle stands proudly at the top of a broad, sweeping cobbled High Street. There is a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants to explore, as well as trips on the canal, an indoor swimming pool, pitch and putt, and an 18-hole golf course. York is just over an hour’s drive, as is the Lake District. The spa town of Harrogate is a ½-hour drive, and will satisfy the most ardent of shoppers; whilst there take time to have afternoon tea at Betty’s tea room. Alternatively, simply relax in your own hot tub and enjoy your surroundings. Shop and restaurant ½ mile, pub 1 mile.

Had a great time away. The home was very clean and we had everything we needed. Was greeted with a little hamper of goodies which was a lovely touch. Being able to collect freshly laid eggs was lovely and they were delicious. The only negative points I’d say were that the home was very close to the owner’s house and the hot tub had no privacy as it could be seen from the owner’s house clearly. Also the BBQ has no gas tank and looked like it hadn’t been used in a long time so we could not use that.

The garden is not enclosed if you have a dog it could wander. The hot tub is for your use only but it is overlooked by the owners property and people walking past. The owners are friendly and helpful, they provided a very nice welcome pack. Skipton is within 10 minutes drive time. Not really many interesting walks from the door. Overall a good holiday. The step ladder to the mezamine is a little dangerous if you dont use it you have to go out of the front door to get to the garden.

Stirton Burrow is cosy, stylish and full of character. The owners couldnt have been more helpful. The snow only added to the experience! We would thoroughly recommend Stirton Burrow for a relaxing break for two.
