Located yards away from the sandy beach at Hornsea, this is the ideal family seaside holiday destination.

This lovely ground floor conversion of a Grade II listed, former station master’s house provides an amazing location for the perfect Yorkshire coastal holiday. The station was designed by Rawlins Gould and opened on the 28th March 1864, closing 100 years later, on 19th October 1964, following the Beeching cuts. The property has been tastefully restored and enjoys some sea views from both bedrooms, and the twin bedroom has a 24" Freeview TV and DVD player. The sandy beaches are about 200 yards away, and there is a boat compound with launching facilities for boats, ribs and jetskis giving access to the sea. It is centrally located in the unspoilt seaside town of Hornsea, known as ’Lakeland by the Sea’, due to the presence in the town of Yorkshire’s largest natural freshwater lake, Hornsea Mere. Not only is the property close to the beach and promenade with its cafés and fish and chip shops, but it is also a short level stroll from the heritage town centre with its museum, shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and public parks, making it an ideal base for those wanting to relax and enjoy the area. Within just a few hundred yards of Station House you will find an indoor soft play facility and Hornsea’s main leisure centre, which offers an indoor heated swimming pool, gym, café and other facilities. Hornsea is also the finishing point for the Trans Pennine Way; from your doorstep you can cycle or walk through the town and out into open countryside on these wonderful, largely level, maintained leisure trails. Activities locally also include sailing and bird watching at Hornsea Mere, Hornsea Golf Course, Freeport shopping centre, Honeysuckle Farm and there is a boat compound with launching facilities. Further afield you’ll find The Deep (a huge aquarium) at Hull and, of course, Bridlington, Scarborough, York, Filey and Flamborough. Whatever the weather, and however you like to spend your holidays, either relaxing or being active, a stay at Station House in Hornsea will surely delight. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    Splendid property - straight out onto Pennine way - excellent for the dog. Hornsea itself is a good old fashioned seaside resort just suited us fine

    We had a lovely stay at Station House, the location is perfect, we found Hornsea to be a friendly seaside town. There are several places to eat that are dog friendly within easy walking distance of Station House. The only downside was the double bedroom was rather on the small side, but we would stay there again.

    The second bedroom was on the small size and tight for a double bed. It would possibly help if the second bedroom was photographed in the cottage information on line so that people can make an informed decision.

    Very nice dog friendly flat, we have 2 labs, ideally positioned for the beach. The small courtyard was great to let the dogs out and easy to clean up after them. The house was well equipped , warm and cosy. There were 2 dog friendly pubs close by, one only about 30 metres from the front door. First time we have visited Hornsea, will be back and would not hesitate to book Station House again.
