Yorkshire Cottages

The Yorkshire Regional Specialist -Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Yorkshire better!

Description

Discover this beautiful area of Yorkshire with easy access to York and market towns. This former stable is close to Thirsk and within walking distance of the pub.

Conveniently located close to Thirsk, this single-storey holiday cottage is well presented and enjoys a private garden overlooking the owners’ grounds. Formerly a stable, the cottage now provides an extremely comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. Thirsk is a delightful market town, renowned for its connections with the famous vet and author Alf Wight, and the James Herriot museum, which covers the life and books of the author, and displays sets from the ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ television series. The cobbled square is surrounded by numerous tea rooms, independent shops and street markets. The town boasts a 15th Century church and a renowned racecourse. Located between the stunning North Yorkshire Moors and the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, visitors can choose from numerous attractions including Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall and Castle Howard. There are abbey ruins at Rievaulx and Byland, and theme parks at Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley provide fun for all the family. The ancient city of York is easily accessible and fascinates all ages, with exquisite architecture, iconic minster, museums, art galleries, festivals and river boat trips. Stable Cottage had everything we expected and more. It is superb for two people but we think four would find the living/dining area quite cramped, especially if they anticipated mostly eating a main meal in the cottage. It is so well situated for easy trips to the Dales and Moors s well as the coast and cities such as York. If we were visiting that area again we wouldn't hesitate to book Stable Cottage.
