The poor rating for local amenities is only because of the house's location out in the countryside but this is a little unfair/hypocritical as we specifically wanted a property miles from civilisation! The house was absolutely perfect for our weekend, a social gathering of 20 friends: only a 10-15 minute drive to the picturesque village of Bewdley yet far enough from the madding crowd to live in complete peace and quiet. Our friendly hosts met us on the Friday night and promptly informed us we did not need to leave early on the Sunday (check out is usually 10am) and could have an extra couple of hours on site if needed. To which we obliged! Would happily recommend this property to any large group wanting a weekend away.

Sporting Heights is an absolutely wonderful venue, well equipped with all that one would need to satisfy in our case 4 generations. Well managed by charming owners who were extremely helpful in answering any queries extremely promptly. Drawbacks? The hobs took far longer than we had anticipated but after the first meal, we adapted and it was no longer an issue. It catered to a very large family being able to have some privacy but also able to be with all- in our case- 26 of us! Overall the specs did not do justice to how the venue was in reality. It was far far better than we had thought and I couldn’t recommend the place more highly. A great weekend where everything worked.

We visited Sporting Heights for a joint 60th birthday celebration in early June. There were twenty of us, ranging in age from one to eighty-four years, and the property was perfect for each and every one of us. The house was spacious yet homely and extremely well equipped, there was everything we could possibly need. Having so many bathrooms was a real bonus. The gardens and surrounding grounds are beautiful. We had some rain while we were there, so the games room was much appreciated and the long tables were perfect for family meals and card games. Our hosts Rob and Vicky were welcoming and helpful. We would love to return one day.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are extremely grateful to you for selecting Sporting Heights, for being such thoughtful guests, for leaving the property so clean and for giving us such marvellous feedback. We hope we will see you again before too long.

Our family of 16 adults and 5 children stayed here for a week at Easter. The house was fantastic with more than enough space, seating, utensils and equipment for us all. When we arrived the owner had very kindly baked us 2 cakes and some scones as well! Some of us spent some time walking and fishing round the lakes, day trips into local towns, walks in Clows Top, Wyre forest, West Midlands safari and visiting the Ironbridge museums. There was lots to do if you can all drive to various places. The farm is quiet and peaceful, which does mean there’s not much very close by. There was a small Londis 10 minutes drive away however. We were well cared for and hosted at Sporting Heights. Rob was on hand if needed but also respected our privacy and let us know when he planned to pop in (he very kindly emptied the bins for us!). He even showed us round the farm and animals they kept, which the kids loved. All in all this is a great family holiday spot and would definitely recommend. Thank you to Rob & co at Clay Farm Partnership - you were great hosts!

One of the best large houses we have rented for family holidays. The house is very spacious with plenty of room for large gatherings. The views over the lakes are stunning. Many of the bedrooms had en suite facilities. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the beds comfortable. There is lots of good walking nearby such as Wyre Forest. We would certainly consider going back again.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for the perfect 10, you were fantastic guests. The house was spotless on your departure. It makes it all worthwhile when guests appreciate and care for the property. We hope we will see you again. Rob.

Excellent house with plenty of room for our group of 23. We especially liked the amount of crockery and kitchen equipment and the two dishwashers which made cooking for 23 for whole week easy. We also loved the view of the gardens from the many windows. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and we felt he was on hand if we had had any issues, without being obtrusive. We had no issues with hot water for showers (sometimes an issue in a larger group) and the furniture and fittings were good quality and plentiful. A couple of small issues that may be worth mentioning: we were lucky with the weather and so made the most of local walks such as Wyre Forest and Clee Hill, however we felt that if the weather had been poor, we may have struggled to find things to do in the location. Other small niggles were that a few of us found the beds a bit on the soft side and that it was a bit difficult to get all the rooms to a good temperature - a difficult issue with such a large property - where if we set the thermostats to suit the colder rooms, the smaller rooms were boiling hot. None of these things were major issues for us and the positives of Sporting Heights massively outweighed them. We would highly recommend this place.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for the feedback and review and for leaving the house tidy. All comments are useful to help us and other future guests. We hope that we will see you again in the future. For future guests wondering; each radiator does have a thermostatic control valve so can be turned up/ down or off for temperature control within the rooms. There are two boilers and two thermostats so each side of the house can be regulated separately as well. We hope to soon have a new website with information on all the local amenities and attractions so we can help guests find things and things to do, as this is always tricky and better planned so as not to take up your time here.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Clay Farm for a weekend and have spent a really good weekend there. The site is clean, comfy, charming and quiet and suited perfectly for a large group (24 people) and benefits from a good location not too far from activities centres and supermarkets. We also really appreciated the warm welcoming of the landlord. Oriane and Christophe

Our whole experience was fantastic. The location was ideal for us, tranquil and rural yet close to main roads. The house completely fulfilled our needs and was true to the description as advertised. The host lives close by and whilst maintaining a discreet distance was on hand to help us if required. We wholly recommend this property.

Rob.
