We were aware that the bungalow would be fairly basic. It was freshly painted but very old fashioned. The bed was ok but not impressed with the mattress covers or pillows, the quilts were not mentioned but very old and not very clean luckily I found one cover with the old blankets. The kitchen was passable but old and tired. Very little is supplied no sheets or towels but plenty of crockery. The fire grate is a bit broken and was full of ash which needed to be removed. We were under the impression that the garden was fully enclosed but dogs can escape from the front garden and cannot be contained in the rear garden.

The only complaint we could give no shower (not counting the rubber shower that didn't stay on tap) no hanger in bathroom. No freezer or freezer compartment in fridge, a table in garden would have been useful Saying that I would still stay there again as it was clean Ideal for shops buses and pubs. We had a very good week the weather god's where on our side.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Simkin. The cottage is in a lovely position and has great outside space with shops, pubs, eateries and amenities nearby. The cottage is very homely, if a little dated in places but it definitely has a charm that we enjoy! We took our own towels and bed linen but did find that some was also available at the property. My main recommendations would be to improve the seating on the living room as this is quite dated, add a DVD player and also install a shower. Overall we would be happy to stay again but it would be good to see a little bit of updating / modernisation taking place (as mentioned above).

Simpkins is convenient for me being disabled.i can’t use the bath but my husband could if it was in a better condition.the sofa cushions have no padding and you sink in it not good if you have a bad back.the peddle bin inside is badly cracked.the double bed duvet had been washed but was blood stained we had to buy our own.the fridge has no ice box in it.we would go there again because we love the area and there is nowhere else suitable for me.but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.
