English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Description

This wonderful property is an ideal holiday base for a large group or family to explore Hampshire and the New Forest.

This superb, detached, seven-bedroom, English thatched country cottage is a delightful holiday home which offers many original architectural features in keeping with the character of a period house, such as beams, leaded windows, original inglenook fireplace and thatched roof. Offering spacious, tastefully styled accommodation, this wonderful thatched country home makes an ideal base for families or couples wishing to stay in the New Forest National Park and close to the sea.

With no close neighbours and surrounded by fields on all sides, the property has 4 acres of gardens, with the outdoor heated swimming pool (heated June to mid-September) being the focal point of the rear garden, easily reached through two sets of large French doors from the spacious kitchen. There is also a large area for playing ball games, two other large lawns, a double barbecue, outdoor furniture and a separate fenced off area with stable which can be used for dogs if required. The owners have a separate annexe adjacent to the property which they occasionally reside in.

The property is located just 3 miles from Lymington and within the New Forest National Park itself, which is a haven for wildlife, with many roaming ponies across the heathland, extensive walking, cycling and riding routes. There is plenty to do in the area for all ages, all year round. The popular sailing town of Lymington is only a 5-minute drive, with its pretty harbour, cobbled pedestrianised streets, boutiques, eateries, pubs and day trips to Isle of Wight by ferry. Other places of interest include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig at Paultons Park, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Southampton, to name but a few. The property is also within easy reach of many beaches, including Mudeford, Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth, the nearest beach being less than two miles away. There is a local convenience shop a 2-minute drive away (800 yards) and a local pub and restaurant within walking distance (600 yards).

Owner of property was very welcoming. Cottage more than comfortable for a large group of people. We spent most of our time in the large kitchen and patio area. All beds very comfortable, cottage is as good as it looks in the pictures, and the pool an added bonus. The only thing I would mention, there needs to be a sign-post for the cottage, as we over shot the entrance on many occassions. Would definitely go again.

We all had a great weekend. It was almost as if we were abroad, with the kitchen doors wide open, jumping into the pool for an early morning dip before a day exploring, or just sunbathing. Very dog and child friendly as well.

Had a fantastic weekend break with three generations of family in fantastic homely surroundings. A warm welcome an introduction by the owners got the weekend off to a good start. Very well equipped, clean and welcoming the only challenge was being new to cooking on an Aga but we mastered it. Ample room to relax and enjoy some special family time.

We cannot say enough lovely things about our stay. The welcome we got when we arrived made us all feel very comfortable indeed and the owners were close to hand if we had any issues....which we didn't. The house was beautiful, clean and absolutely enormous with its 7 bedrooms. 13 of us booked to stay and had the best time. Lovely country walks and quirky pubs around the area. We would all stay there again in a heartbeat. It has everything you need for your stay. Loved it

There were 13 of us for a wedding near by and silverland was perfect for what we needed. The house was big and the kitchen was the perfect sociable space. It's a shame the weather wasn't better so we could make use of the pool, but it did mean we got to use the amazing log fire. Thanks for a great stay we are already planning a return visit!
