Description

A light and spacious barn conversion with fantastic rural views located in an AONB. Great for connecting with the Cotswolds Way which passes the village.

This property is a beautifully restored barn conversion set along a quiet country lane. The sleepy village of Cold Ashton possesses a real old-world charm, and being situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the barn has beautiful unbroken views over pristine pastures and gently undulating hillocks.

With a large beamed dining room, the barn offers a light and airy living space, and nothing creates that warm homely mood like a wood burning stove. The entire cottage has been stylishly furnished with elegant décor, French doors leading out into the courtyard, and an oak balustrade overlooking the ground floor.

There’s some fantastic walking to be found in the area – the Cotswold Way passes via the village through lush greenery that can only be found deep in the Gloucestershire countryside. If you’re willing to go further afield, the barn is only 4 miles from junction 18 on the M4; easily accessible if you decide to take day trips to the National Trust’s Dyrham Park, Westonbirt Aboretum or the picture-perfect village of Lacock. A production in the 17th century Theatre Royal in Bath will satisfy any culture cravings, and the Roman baths are sure to revitalise after long walks in the Costwolds. The city of Bath is home to some beautiful Georgian architecture, and there’s always a vibrant ambience thanks to the city’s teeming student population. If you’d rather stay a little closer to home, there’s the quaint little village of Marshfield that has a shop and gastro pubs for socialising in the evenings.

After a day’s adventure, spend your evenings in the lap of luxury – with your feet up and the fire crackling.

Large beamed living/dining room with wood-burning stove, wooden floor, window with traditional shutters and large French doors to courtyard garden, open-plan with large kitchen with stone floor. Separate toilet. Large galleried area with seating, day bed (for +2) and glass and oak balustrade overlooking ground floor. First floor: Double bedroom en-suite shower room with double shower and toilet. Double bedroom with 6ft (zip & link beds can be twin beds on request)). Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Perfect holiday let in a wonderful location. The barn had everything we needed plus some thoughtful extras. The location is just beautiful and so close to Bath for day trips. We were a family with 5 young children and it was more this suitable for us, none of us wanted to leave!

This is an excellent property in a fantastic location. Everything you could possibly need is provided (even a piano!) and the property is beautifully fitted out. It’s only 5 miles to beautiful Bath and similar to Bristol and Chippenham. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

Shaplands Barn is in the perfect location for visiting Bath and for spending hours walking in beautiful countryside. You'll have to drive if you need shopping or a pint at the local pub because there's nothing in the immediate vicinity, but don't let that stop you because Cold Ashton is a peaceful hamlet to stay in. My wife and I shared Shaplands Barn with friends and there's enough space to feel comfortable and yet not overcrowded. The Barn is an attractive conversion that provides all you need for a weeks break. It does need a bit of TLC and new mattresses to make it more comfortable. The owner was very accommodating and I've given her the feedback written here.

Beautifully converted barn in a picturesque, quiet village only 15 minutes from Bath and about 35 minutes from Bristol. The lovely interior was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owner was friendly and welcoming and on hand if needed but not at all intrusive. Lots of countryside walks nearby and a very good local shop and several pubs in the next village, Marshfield, 2 miles away.

A beautiful open plan barn that comfortably caters for 6 people with comfy beds and superb views. Bath is a short drive away with plenty of things to do and see in and around the surrounding area - we had a fabulous time and would love to come back.
