Description

A superb holiday home in the grounds The Sedgeford Hall with period features, access to an indoor heated swimming pool and stunning rural views.

A very warm welcome awaits at the home of the Campbell family, The Sedgeford Hall. Set in the heart of a 1200-acre farming and shooting estate in a beautiful north Norfolk valley, The Sedgeford Hall offers a beautiful, secluded location in which to holiday, celebrate or entertain.

The Sedgeford Hall, built of local sand-coloured brick was built in the reign of Queen Anne, and completed in 1713, with further additions throughout the centuries; it now includes a heated indoor swimming pool (bring own towels), open fires and wood-burning stoves for the colder winter months, beautiful enclosed gardens and numerous Estate walks, with lakes, woods and parkland.

Visitors may wander around the expansive grounds at their leisure. Sedgeford is just a few miles from the coast, and close to splendid towns and villages such as Burnham Market and several stately homes - Houghton Hall, Holkham, Sandringham and Anmer Hall, home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George.

Just 5 miles to the north is the seaside town of Hunstanton with miles of sandy beaches and rock pools, majestic cliffs, a Sea Life Centre, amusemens, watersports, tennis, croquet, bowls, golf, shops, restaurants and inns. Heacham, 3 miles, has the benefit of Norfolk Lavender with garden centre, shops, café and farm shop. For children, there is the popular ‘Farmer Fred’s Play Barn’ a large indoor play centre with café and an animal petting zoo! Great Bircham is a 4-mile walk, and the Peddars Way and Icknield Way are also close by. Locally there is shooting, fishing, bird watching and golf as well as many stunning beaches along the North Norfolk coast. Shop 4 miles, pub serving food ½ mile.

The West Wing is the largest part of The Sedgeford Hall and looks out onto the park and over towards the lake. It is nearest to the fantastic, indoor, heated swimming pool (see below for details of pool use). With seven lovely bedrooms, all traditionally decorated, a good sized kitchen complete with range and sitting room with wood-burning stove. The West Wing is a spacious, family friendly property, perfect for a cosy winter getaway or summer break. There is a large enclosed garden and decking with seating area, perfect for summer BBQs.

We had a fantastic holiday with all of the family for my mum's 80th birthday. We are all looking to come again next year.

Lovely property in ideal location for exploring NW Norfolk coast and surrounding areas. Property looking a little tired in places although comfortable throughout. Would really benefit from having showers in bathrooms upstairs.

West Wing is situated in a beautiful estate, close to Norfolk coast. The house has 3 fantastic bedrooms and 3 not so good but comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and seated 10 also in kitchen. The lounge area was dark at night which made reading hard. Lovely gravelled area with barbecue. Pool was wonderful and can be used all week except 3 afternoons. Pool shared with main hall. Luckily main hall was empty for most of week because you can hear the residents from the lounge, and even the snoring from one bedrooom! Wouldn’t stop us from booking again however. Very reasonably priced for a house this size but possibly because it was not Easter holiday in Norfolk. Good welcome pack. Lovely place! Book it!!!

The West Wing is in a lovely location plenty of space for all the family, kitchen very well equipped. Couple of the en suites could do with a face lift but still very good value for money. Best of all was access to the indoor pool, the staff we met were very friendly and helpful will definitely go again.

This was the first the time the complete family - 9 adults, 2 children and a baby had gone away together so it was an exciting experience for us all. On arrival at the West Wing we were certainly not disappointed. The lovely welcome pack was a nice touch. Before unpacking the cars we explored the wing with pleasure tumbling across room after room which were all delightful apart from one twin room downstairs which really should be a single as it was extremely tight manouvering around the edge of the beds, we also felt that it needed some maintenance as it did smell musty and damp. But the rest of the bedrooms upstairs were spacious and decorated to a lovely standard. The kitchen was amazing with a huge variety of equipment and crockery which was excellent quality, the Aga was lovely to cook with but made the kitchen very hot. We were very impressed with how well equipped the wing and to a quality standard. The swimming pool was lovely ( very warm) and went down a treat especially with the children . Overall we all had a wonderful weekend and would stay again and definitely recommend it to others.

First, the positive. The West Wing is in an idyllic rural location within easy driving distance of the lovely Norfolk coastline. There is a large grass area for children to play games. The bedding and towels are of good quality. The kitchen has everything you might need in terms of pans, utensils etc. However, we were all rather disappointed with some aspects of the house, which have been mentioned by others, ie lack of showers, no towel rails, noise(we could clearly hear conversation) and cooking smells coming through the (locked) door in the lounge, which links to the main house, a couple of cramped bedrooms (the others were good), and restricted hours for the pool. Private users of the pool walk across your outside area, although it was hardly used at times when we were not allowed to use it. The pool is very hot, like a hot-tub, which may suit some people. The kitchen, with the Aga, was also uncomfortably hot in August, and meant that any food kept outside the fridge went off very quickly. At a high season rate of £500 + a night, we did not feel that it was good value for money, and have stayed in much better houses.
