Although the cottage is very attractive, tucked away in a lovely peaceful location, with a wonderful view of the garden as you sit relaxing on the bed, there are many problems that if resolved, would make the stay so much better. The entrance gate was so swollen it was almost impossible to use and no mention in our instructions of a side entrance that was easy to open. THERE IS NO MICROWAVE! On holiday you want convenience. NO FREEZER COMPARTMENT in the fridge, again, super inconvenient. Very unhygenic old wooden draining board which had black mould in the grooves. This is separate, so can easily be replaced. A kitchen timer would have been useful. The top oven hinge is broken on the right. Counter and kitchen table top were very sticky, presumably from failed varnish. We had to buy a pack of tea towels to cover the table to enable us to use it without our arms sticking to it. The two steps between the lounge and bedroom are very dangerous. Better lighting is essential as the skirting light did not work so it was difficult to see the step edges and the overhead light is very poor. My wife fell down them... The fan in the bathroom and the shower light did not work. The top control knob on the shower is not secured and comes off. There are insufficient rails in bathroom for wet towels and no door hooks to hang up dressing gowns. Several lamps in the lounge area do not work. Mandy, who looks after the place for the owners, was sympathetic and tried to help, but these things were beyond her remit. Sadly, almost all the above have been flagged up on Trip Advisor reviews over many months, but seem to have been ignored by the owners. This is all such a shame as the cottage and location is a gem, but issues like this make it less than a great experience.
