Unfortunately, as in the previous review, there are major problems with this property. When it rains, there is a leak in the top floor bedroom. The adjoining cottage is being completely renovated and the building work is highly intrusive both in terms of mess (dust and debris) and noise (loud drilling, hammering etc from 8am). On the first morning the hot water did not work. The yale lock on the front door does not work - upon arrival, the front door could simply be pushed open. There is a problem with lack of response to problems by the owners.* The previous review gives a far more accurate description than the advertised information about the cottage. The previous review was posted after we had booked and just before our holiday started and we didn't see it until we were at Seacrest. If it had been posted earlier we would not have booked this place. We feel we were badly misled and the price charged feels like a rip off. *In more detail - we phoned the owners on the first evening to report the problem with the front door and ask what we should do. There was no answer so we left a message but got no response. On the Saturday morning we phoned the owners to report the problem with the hot water. There was no answer so we left a message but got no response. We therefore phoned the company we had booked the cottage with. They then contacted the owners. Later in the day the owners rang but I didn't get to my phone in time. They left a message saying they would try to explain the heating system. I phoned straight back but there was no answer so I left a message saying that while waiting for a reply we had found - in a random drawer - some additional instructions for the boiler and had been able to reset it so the hot water worked. I again mentioned the problem with the front door. We never got a reply from the owners. With the front door, we finally found an old key for a mortice lock which meant we could secure the front door and then used the backdoor which was a pain (and beware of debris from the building work plus neighbour's rubbish!) The previous review shows problems with the building work and leak were there before we arrived but we were not informed of the former and the latter had clearly not been attended to.

Cottage quirky and well stocked. Welcome pack very much appreciated. Bathroom not fully cleaned on arrival. We had to endure leaky windows in bedroom, boiler kept clicking of due to airlock and worst off all was we had to put up with the inconvenience of the cottage next door being renevated from 8am-4pm daily. On the Sunday it was 6.45am we were woken up by the noise. The dirt and debris this caused both in and outside was unacceptable. I did not book a weeks restfully holiday to be faced with cleaning and noise. We walked out the door and be hit by falling debris off the roof due to the proximity of the cottages. We should of been told of this problem when booking and given the oppertunity to change cottages.

To me, Seacrest Cottage is the most perfect place to stay in Whitby
