Redcar regularly hosts horse racing, and special events often take place at Kirkleatham Museum in the summer months. In Redcar there are arcades, a great selection of shops and cafés as well as the beach to enjoy. The next resort along the coast is Saltburn-by-the-Sea which itself boasts a picturesque promenade and pier. Saltburn attracts surfers and fishermen as well as those wanting to spend time building sandcastles. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink on top of the cliff.
