Description

Just 3 miles from the coast and with many attractions on the doorstep this detached property makes an ideal touring base.

This delightful barn dating from 1860 has a stormy history – in the great hurricane of 1987 it was totally demolished. Rebuilt two years later using many of the original beams, it was reborn into a luxurious and stylish property. For anyone wanting to enjoy a period property, with all the modern conveniences then Saunders Oast Barn is not to be missed.
The stylish entrance hall with oak beam framing, leads to the open plan living room with its cool, contemporary decoration. Comfortable sofas look out over the patio/garden from French doors, perfect for relaxing of an evening in front of the flat screen TV. While the full size snooker table is excellent for keeping everyone amused of an evening or on inclement days.
The large contemporary kitchen, in cool gleaming white, is well-equipped, with a dining table making it ideal for those lazy breakfasts. Or open the door to the patio/garden and enjoy an evening meal, while listening to the tranquil sounds of the countryside.
The bedrooms are all large and luxuriously furnished, with sumptuous linen, soft fluffy, duvets and pillows, and all with exposed oak beams and oak furniture. With a calm and peaceful atmosphere which tempts you to enjoy a lazy morning or early night.
On hot summer days enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside from the patio, which looks out over rolling countryside and is often frequented by the neighbouring chickens and geese! Or enjoy an alfresco meal or BBQ of an evening, while watching the evening sun sink in the sky.
If you can bear to leave this wonderful barn for a while, then historic Hastings with its castle ruins, and the coast are easily reached. While the medieval town of Rye with its impressive Norman church is nearby. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Tiled entrance hall leading to living room with full-size snooker table, French door to patio/garden, and well-equipped kitchen/dining room with door to patio/garden. Twin bedroom (zip & link can be double bed on request) with en-suite shower room and toilet with tiled floor. First floor: Galleried landing area. Double bedroom (5ft) with two additional single separated by drapes (each for +1) and en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower, toilet and tiled floor. A lovely barn in beautiful surroundings and well situated for country walks, a trip to the seaside or visit to Hastings or Rye which are both nearby. The snooker table and outside area including football goal were also a winner

The barn is in a lovely quiet countryside position. Only minutes away from Hastings Beware though as not stated in the description there are the owners Geese/Chickens and Rabbits running free outside the fence to the barn. If we had known beforehand we would not of booked as we have a Jack Russell so had to keep an eye on him. The barn is well furnished, comfortable and clean. The kitchen is big and well equipped. Good to have the downstairs bedroom for parents who struggle with stairs but the shower is very small. Our mattress was a bit springy and pinged when you turn over. Would of been nice to have tea making facilities handy on arrival after a long journey. We had food delivered as many takeaways in Hastings of different kinds who deliver. Good walks close by for the dogs. In all we had a very good weeks stay. Weather was good to us too.

We enjoyed our three nights in the Barn celebrating two special birthdays. It was ideal for four adults and four kids aged between 17yrs-20yrs. The snooker table was a great success. The Barn was extremely welcoming, very clean and well equipped. The location was very quiet, however, Hastings is just 10 minutes drive away. The owner was very nice, would definitely recommend.

Excellent accommodation. Wonderfully equipped kitchen. Lovely view. One small niggle the soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty.

The property is indeed beautiful and in a great location. The only down side is the noise in the bed room from the water in the pipes when used. It was faulty and the plumber came and corrected it immediately but it still was noisy enough to wake you up in the morning when other people were using the water in the other showers or kitchen. If this was sorted out I would have given a 10.

The only failing re the barn was the absence of a 'welcome pack', lack of beverage, sugar, milk etc, a very welcome sight following long journey. Condiments would be ideal also.
