A lovely relaxing holiday, great pool and perfect for the beach. Bacton is a lovely village with a well stocked village shop, great fish and chip shop and a short walk to The Poachers Pocket pub serving good food. Also lovely playground for the children.

Lovely big house with a fabulous swimming pool. Lovely welcome pack. It’s in a lovely small village with miles of sandy coastline. Cromer and Great Yarmouth are only a short car ride away. Would have liked bigger towels but that’s just a small negative observation.

A comfortable, well equipped, quiet holiday home in an off-the beaten-track location. Star is the swimming pool, and the proximity to the beach and North Norfolk coastal path. Limited parking for two cars. Also good are wifi, safety of a payphone, freeview TV. Nice hospitality basket. Unnecessary hotel-type tiny toiletries. There are three Bacton properties called Sandbanks however - two feature on google - two holiday properties in adjoining streets and a seaside caravan. Confusing! Small faults, several times noted in guest book reviews but not acted upon, were poor quality towel provision (rough, insufficient is size and numbers), a ludicrously small kitchen waste bin which for a house with six adults filled in one day. No hairdryer was supplied (even a weekend hotel provides this now). Rather grubby beige carpeting in need of a shampoo throughout.

The house is spacious and comfortable. It’s ideally located for the lovely sandy beach. The pool is a nice size and luxuriously warm. The garden is safe for little ones to play in with a nice area for eating out.

Cottage was in a good position, but very overlooked. It was close to sea. However, for the rental fee, we felt that it was in need of some updating. Cooker was old and in need of some cleaning. Tiny waste bin in kitchen. This had been pointed out and a reply from housekeeper stated it was quite big enough and wouldn’t be changed. No recycling available ... all rubbish had to be put in a small dustbin in garage.Beds were not comfortable and the double bed was very small. Lack of electric sockets in one bedroom made it impossible to use a hair dryer. Black towels not pleasant. Lack of shelves in en suite. Some improvements would make this into lovely accommodation.

This is the fifth successive year that we have stayed at Sandbanks - a reflection of the high quality of provision and value for money. In previous reviews I have made very positive judgements regarding the swimming pool (we often book cottages with a pool) and this remains the highlight of the cottage. I had a humdinger of a cold for all the week we were at Bacton, but the facilities at Sandbanks enabled me to have a restful week without travelling out of the village. For any with a craft/artistic bent, my wife had a very enjoyable day being tutored 1:1 at Coastal Stained Glass at Wroxham Barns - the best £85 I have ever spent! The only constructive criticism that I could make is regarding the technology available. This has improved - mobile 'phones now work in the house and there is an internet connection. However, given the low cost per week of updates, the telephone could easily be free to use, a faster and more reliable internet connection and Sky or a similar TV package could be available. Will we be coming again? Of course we will!
