This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

With its own games room and large enclosed garden, this spacious farmhouse is great for friends or family to get together.

Situated on a 300-acre working sheep and beef farm in the beautiful surroundings of the north west Dorset countryside, and only 5 miles south of the delightful abbey town of Sherborne, these three holiday homes offer a great location to get away from it all. The Farmhouse (UKC2911), which sleeps up to twelve guests, and the smaller wing of the property, Churchill Cottage (ref DQR), which sleeps six guests, have an interconnecting door allowing for both to be booked together (sleeping 18 guests) or independently. Standing detached is The Stables (ref DSG) which sleeps five guests.

The Farmhouse and Churchill Cottage have interesting historical connections, having once been owned by John Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough and the highwayman John Clavell respectively. The Farmhouse offers its own games room with a pool table, and a dining area seating 18, although all three properties have use of a shared outside games room with a pool table, table tennis, table football and darts. The properties also have use of the coarse fishing lake, 100 yards away.

The properties are ideal for a family or groups who might wish to get away from it all, and their location lends itself for some fine country walking and cycling. Visit Sherborne with its abbey, castle, fine character shops, cafés and inns. Within easy driving there are also many historic houses, such as Montacute House and Gardens and Stourhead House and Gardens to name just two. For family outings Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Haynes Motor Museum, with its fascinating classical car collection, are worth a visit, and slightly further afield, the ever popular Longleat House and Safari Park is great for a day out.

The south coast resorts of Weymouth, West Bay and Lyme Regis, on the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, beckon, with plenty of water activities to enjoy, or going inland to south Somerset, one can take in the Clarks Village Outlet, Glastonbury Tor and the very popular Roman city of Bath with its many tourist attractions. Nearby, visit Cerne Abbas, famed for its chalk giant on the hillside, and just beyond is Dorchester, the county town with its many museums. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
Churchill Cottage (ref DQR), The Stables (ref DSG) and The Farmhouse (ref UKC2911) can be booked together to accommodate up to 23 guests.

We came here for my Dads 70th birthday & he couldn't have been happier. Very helpful & friendly owners. The house was beautiful, near a lovely walk mapped out for us. Would definitely look to come & stay again!

Beautiful historic house in lovely countryside. We enjoyed feeding the animals and going for walks. Excellent well-equipped property for a family get together with loads of space, comfortable beds and log burning stoves.

We (2 families- 4 adults and 6 children) had the most brilliant break at the Farmhouse. The house is large and spacious and very well equipped. The rural location is picturesque and yet accessible to local amenities and Sherborne has a choice of supermarkets and great shops. Our host was there to welcome us and took us round the farm to meet the calves and the newly born lambs. We had several great days out - visiting Westbay, Longleat, Stonehenge and Moors Valley forest all of which were around an hours drive. Happy kids make happy parents and all us had the best new year break.

The Farmhouse was beautiful, comfy & had everything we could need. The kids had a great time with the pool table, books, games & tractors. It's off the beaten track, but we still managed a takeaway delivery. We would definitely stay there again and explore more of the local area.

We had a fantastic time at Round Chimneys farm. Our group was an extended family, with one elderly for whom the downstairs bedroom & shower room were perfect. The place is cavernous and accommodated us all no problem. Both the kitchen and living rooms are lovely social spaces where we chatted for hours. The bedrooms are lovely and again a great size. Bathrooms are all very modern and luxurious. We were there in summer but I can just imagine roaring log fires in the winter too. Would not hesitate to go back.
