Very comfortable and private accommodation with a lovely helpful owner who lives on site but is never intrusive. Spacious grounds to sit out in if the weather is nice. Good selection of places to eat close by and lots of places of interest within easy reach. Highly recommended

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was beautiful and will be going back time and time again when life allows. Jean was very friendly and Maisie the westie came around occasionally just to say hi.

We came for a sight seeing holiday and found plenty to do. We visited the Bowes Museum on the journey up to the cottage then visited Durham City, the Cathedral for a whole day, the castle for half a day, Beamish Museum for two days, Cragside for a whole day and Hadrian's wall, Vindolanda and the Roman Museum for a whole day and again on the journey home. The cottage was a very comfortable base from which to explore. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The only thing we didn't get was sunshine to enable us to enjoy the garden but then apart from the visit to Hadrian's Wall we were indoors most of the time.
