Description

Enjoy use of the facilities at a nearby leisure centre or explore the farm trail back at the house.

Use of a nearby leisure centre (3 miles) with pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and multi-gym.

This cottage is a self-contained wing of the owner’s 17th-century farmhouse and is set in 200 acres of NT farmland, grazed by sheep, cattle and donkeys, offering cosy holiday accommodation. Tastefully furnished throughout, features include a wood-burning stove in the living room and an attractive French rosewood bed. There is a delightful farm trail to explore. Betws-y-Coed (3 miles) boasts the spectacular Swallow Falls; at Capel Curig (8 miles) the mountaineering centre offers rock climbing, skiing and canoeing. The nearby village of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia, has much to offer, including the fabulous, family-friendly treetop nets at Zip World Fforest. A short drive takes you to Blaenau Ffestiniog which offers adrenaline junkies the options of trying Europe’s longest zip lines, or Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets in an old slate cavern. If this is too much, then the famous Ffestiniog Railway takes you on a spectacular journey to the coastal town of Porthmadog. Ideal for horse riding and golf. Shops 2½ miles.

Living room with wood-burning stove and open countryside views. Farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room. Lower ground floor: Children’s play room. First floor: Spacious double bedroom with wash basin. Twin bedroom and lovely views of the river and open countryside. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Lovely location. As it is on a farm there are no shops, pubs in the immediate locality but there are plenty of things within a few miles. This was our second visit with our grandchildren and, sadly, the two old dogs they were so friendly with on our last visit were no longer with us. But there was still the donkey and the working dogs. The highlights of the trip for the kids was climbing at the Beacon Climbing and the Treetops activity centres. They enjoyed playing pool in the games room, going to the beach and the three walks in the 3 -5 mile range. The house is well equipped, although as you might expect in a remote location, the wifi was painfully slow at times.

We had a great week at this cottage, which is well equipped and clean. It is ideally placed for exploring the area and we did some mountain biking, white water rafting and walked up Snowdon. The cottage is attached to the owners property and on a working farm but it feels private and the owners were very friendly. The property is centrally heated with lots of hot water, and has a well equipped kitchen and a games room for those indoor hours. The rooms are spacious.
