Description

Cosy rural, retreat for couples with wood-burning stove and beams, close to Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig nearby.

Set in the Snowdonia National Park, just 3 miles from Betws-y-Coed and its spectacular Swallow Falls, this attractive stone barn has been sensitively converted to retain plenty of original character – with beams in its first floor living room. Enjoying its own patio, it stands opposite the owner’s farmhouse on a working farm, where a pet donkey always offers a friendly welcome and visitors are free to wander the delightful farm trail. Guests enjoy free use of a nearby leisure centre (3 miles) with pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and multi-gym. The National Park has many mountain trails and there is an excellent mountaineering centre at nearby Capel Curig. Bala Lake and the harbour towns of Porthmadog and Conwy are within easy reach. Horse riding nearby. Ideal for golf. Shops 2½ miles.

Ground floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Living/dining room with wood-burning stove, exposed beams. Kitchen area.

This is a lovely cottage on a working sheep farm, the views from within are far reaching and beautiful and the location is perfectly situated for the surrounding area. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything needed to make yourselves at home. The downstairs bedroom was lovely and cool for sleeping in the heatwave we had when there and there were plenty of nearby areas for us to walk the dog first thing in the mornings, including the river. The owners were very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. There was a pint of milk in the fridge on our arrival together with tea and a pack of Welsh Shortbread, perfect for a nice cup of tea after the long journey there. A delightful and peaceful place to stay, a little piece of heaven! My only advice would be to take provisions with you for the first couple of days as there is not much choice for food shopping nearby.

A lovely old cottage with great features. Warm and comfortable, also plenty of space for two. Good location for all of Snowdonia, a short drive to pub or restaurant being the only downside. Internet worked, but was slow and sometimes patchy (due to location). Very friendly owners on site ready to help if needed.
