Lovely spacious cottage, very quirky. Comfortable bed and everything we needed. Easy parking. Right in the centre of the village. So much to see! Great Indian restaurant. Shop stocking everything just a few doors along. Great local butcher.

Wonderful location and beautiful historic house. Garden is fabulous and kitchen well equipped. No dishwasher though so if you did have 6 staying and cooked you will be washing up! Beds really comfortable but sofas and chairs less so. All looked a bit tired which was a shame. Lots of interesting books about the house. Overall good but could be amazing!

We spent 2 weeks at this wonderful cottage. It is spacious and comfy and inviting. By far one of our favorite cottages to stay in. We visit this part of the country a lot and have every intention of renting this cottage again. The owners are so very helpful and welcoming.

What a lucky find this was! I had never visited Lavenham before so wasn't aware of how beautiful the village is or what a fabulous location this house occupies until we arrives so that was a lovely surprise. The property itself is undersold in the pictures - it was much bigger than we were expecting and it felt like a real privilege to stay in such a historic house. Compared to other holiday lets it was very comfortable - plenty of space to eat and comfy sofas for all. Some might describe some of the furniture as a bit shabby but it felt in keeping with the house to us. I particularly enjoyed sitting with a book on the sofa overlooking the Guildhall and doing a bit of tourist watching. We had two cars with us and managed to park close by without any problems although we did get blocked in for a few hours one day. Bakery next door-but-one was a favourite. Kitchen was better equipped than most holiday lets so we could actually cook proper meals - the only grip was the lack of a dishwasher but we are probably unusual in how much cooking we did. Stairs to top floor bedroom (twin) are very steep so not suitable for very young children or elderly guests in my opinion but there are two bedrooms (double) on the first floor so most families would be able to work round this.

A spacious, quirky and characterful house in a fantastic location on the marketplace. Unfortunately we were hassled into leaving the property while my partner fed our baby by (according to the housekeeper) a "third party booking" who wanted to get into the property before 10-00 on our departure day. Expressed my disappointment to the housekeeper about this who was apologetic and said the owner (who agreed to accept the third party booking) would be in touch but had no contact whatsoever. A disappointing end to a pleasant stay but would not consider booking again given the above.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; My sincere apologies for the delay in getting in touch, and for the disturbance. Arrival is after 3pm, and until now, nobody has ever tried to arrive before that without seeking permission. We would never have knowingly allowed this to happen and can only apologise, as we can understand it spoiled the end of your stay.
