Had a great relaxing few days at half moon. Stayed with my partner and friends, upon arrival check in was welcoming and hassel free and the lodge was spotless with everything you could need lovely decor and stunning views. We had planned to get a taxi to nearby Southwell and enjoy the local pubs but wait time was 1.5 hours, no fault of the venue but a heads up if planning. So we drove to the local coop got stocked up And had a fab evening in. We went into Newark on the Saturday which was a easy drive and well worth the visit. We had a fab Saturday sat out enjoying the sunshine and hot tub it’s remote enough that we was able to play some music and have a great laugh with out disturbing anyone. Great place and would recomend.

I stayed here with friends and had an excellent time! The hot tub was beautiful, especially in the evenings when we could also star gaze. The lodge was well equipped and was very comfortable. Our hosts were outstanding and went out of their way to accommodate our needs, even bringing over a stand for us to place our bbq on! I would definitely stay here again, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Stunning log cabin with wood burner and hot tub. It was a very relaxed Easter weekend break for 2. We were greated when we arrived and were shown to our cabin. It was pouring with rain and only really stopped long enough to jump in the hot tub which was just the spot of relaxing I needed Our host showed us how to adjust the heating settings which were very easy and the cabin warmed up nicely with no real need for the fire other than for our own satisfaction. We kept it going and when we asked for more wood we were told where to find it. There was a very yummy welcome cake and tea set. The cabin was very clean and very well presented. There was storage everywhere. Great for a longer break. We did have a small issue with one of the doors sticking but the hosts were very quick to come and sort it with a little wiggle (expansion in the wood as is normal with wood). Somewhere to put muddy boots and shoes inside the welcome hall would be great as leaving them in the porch wasn't an option but welly pegs would work for outside. Shower wasn't burning hot but plenty warm enough. Towels could do with the labels cutting out as they are a little starchy. Bed very comfy, duvet very warm. Could be too warm if your a hot sleeper. The room could benefit from being darker to allow for a lay in past sun rise and the pillows are a little flat. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment again with plenty of storage space. Thank you very much for having us. I would like to return with my little boy next time :)

This is an odd one as we were the first to stay here (it had just been finished on the afternoon of our arrival). I expect it will improve for subsequent visitors, but I can only base my review on my experience. The hosts were friendly and helpful, they brought matches round when I asked about them and the place was decorated for Christmas, which was really helpful. It's a nice, quiet location (I'm from the area) and it could be a great little place to stay. Unfortunately, it leaked in heavy rain, it was cold and the radiators couldn't keep up (12 degrees in the mornings - not ideal when trying to wash/change a baby). The burner is nice but small, taking your own compacted woodchip things may be less hassle than trying to feng shui in the real logs they kindly drop off for you. Even so, it may take the chill off in winter but it's hardly toasty. The woodchip path to the lodge was so waterlogged we couldn't use it. The floor wasn't sealed so we had to take shoes off at the door but there was no storage/rack so they got wet. The hot-tub is nice but I hope they'll put a lean-to up, or at least somewhere to put your towel and slippers for when it's not so dry outside. Be aware it's a working farm and you have to get out of your car to open and close the gate each time you come/go; not a problem for me but it may be a faff for less mobile folks. All in all, you will probably love it if you get a warm, sunny week, but rubbish weather can ruin it a little too easily for my liking.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for choosing to stay with us over Christmas in our Brand new log cabins, (we worked exceptionally hard so they were ready for you and your family to stay and enjoy Christmas). We are delighted you found us friendly and helpful, that is our aim! We are glad you found it a quiet location and a great little place to stay. We apologise for the leak around the log burner chimney flue this has now been fully rectified by the addition of a storm collar on the flue itself. We too were disappointed as the installer failed to add the collars. We are also sorry you didn't fully understand the heating system. Each brand new modern wall heater in every room has its own temperature control which you can set for each room, there is no central heating thermostat in the cabin, the heater would have shown 12 degrees as that was the temperature it was set at and the wall heaters can go up to 30 degrees max if necessary. I'm sorry you didn't mention this on the times I came down with logs and matches as I gladly would have shown you again how to adjust the heaters especially as you had a baby with you. We have now made the logs smaller so they fit easily into the burner to give loads off of heat to make it toasty, sadly when we checked the burner after you had departed we found you had laid the dead plate over the top of the grate and placed logs onto the top of the plate. Therefore air could not pass through the grate and up the chimney so the log burner would of been only able to run at around 45 % capacity. We are sorry about the path flooding but the weather was particularly wet as you commented, however we have now raised the paths to avoid this happening again. The floors are now fully sealed which means, and the hallway mat means you can leave your shoes inside. We are glad you enjoyed the hot tub, we don't want to put a lean to over the tub as this spoils the wonderful star canopy that other guests have so much commented on and enjoyed that have stayed with us. The garden table and chairs are there for you to place your change of clothes, towels onto etc. Thank you for pointing out its a working farm in your review but it does state that on the description ont website. The gate is there for everyone's safety and security as most farms holiday complexes do have some form of gate to pass through and we are conscious not to have animals wandering down the drive onto the road, nor potentially any little ones. We hope to see you again when your visiting in our area, we also have at the farm three brick cottages that may be of interest to you.
