Rascal Wood provides holiday accommodation which is spacious, contemporary, light and airy, perfect for special celebrations, groups of friends or a family get-together. Surrounded by lawned gardens with seating areas and patio for al fresco dining, along with an eco-friendly underfloor heating system and open fire, this is an ideal house at any time of year. Being at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, this is a relatively undiscovered area which inspired the paintings of David Hockney. There are numerous attractions to visit including The Deep, a spectacular aquarium in Hull, and the Jorvik Centre and magnificent minster in York. The historic market town of Beverley is just a 20 minute drive and the coastal resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough along with the North York Moors are all easily accessible. Golf, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and horse riding are available locally and the owner is happy to share his extensive local knowledge, giving advice on walks, cycle routes and nature reserve locations. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Really lovely house in a great location - only 30-40mins from York - perfect for large groups. There’s was plenty of bedrooms and most were en-suite and a huge dining room making it perfect for bigger gatherings. We had a really lovely couple of nights there and would recommend to anyone

We were a group of young adults on a cancer retreat weekend and had a thoroughly enjoyable break. The house is remote but what we were after, however the local village is a couple of miles away where there is a small shop and a pub. The house was great plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen when cooking for 14 people. The house has stunning views and the owners were friendly, welcoming and happy to share local knowledge. We really enjoyed our stay.

The kitchen equipment could do with a good sort out and replace with some new items

Lovely spacious holiday home. Really well equipped and rooms were even bigger than expected. Would definitely recommend to large groups. Only off-putting thing was the huge number of notices around the house telling you what to do; it did stop us from feeling at home there.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. The signs are only in the kitchen and they are just gentle reminders of the rules for the house. Also some that are provided by's health and safety dept, for the fire procedure, as this is a requirement and is for the comfort and safety of our guests.

A well-equipped house which has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. There is plenty of space for 14 people. The location is quiet and peaceful and it is lovely to be on a working farm. Gordon and Jill were very welcoming and gave some great ideas of where to go and what to see. The weather was lovely and the garden was perfect for relaxing in. We saw plenty of wildlife including a hedgehog and a deer. We highly recommend Rascal Wood.
