Description

A pretty ground floor apartment within a grand Victorian property very close to the beach and then centre of Alnmouth.

We are a family of 4 adults and felt at home as soon as we arrived. The Mews is clean and has a well equipped kitchen ( a welcome pack was included). The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are very comfy. The 2 parking spaces are a real bonus.

Apartment was quite a lot smaller and darker than expected from the pictures. The living room particularly is very dark so that you need lights on throughout the day. Two of the three bedrooms are very small, the front one really being suitable as a single only and there is no other space in the flat to store luggage sensibly. Really it is not suitable for 6 adults. Kitchen is a bit restrictive too and even just heating up a meal for 6 adults was a challenge of rotating dishes between the two ovens and a hob plus trying to find somewhere to put things down.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The apartment can feel a little darker when the skies are dark during the short winter days. We have supplied lots of lighting in the lounge a standard floor lamp with a reader light attached, a large table lamp and a lovely chandelier with 5 lights. The lounge is 5 metre square, which is an average size for six people. The kitchen is well equipped and has three large work top areas and a lovely stove cooker, which is sufficient for a large family. The front bedroom has a small double bed and the back room has two singles beds. The master bedroom has a large king size sleigh bed. Sorry it was not to your taste but these things cannot be changed - we always take on board guest feedback and observations, and make any necessary changes when required.

Nice property although lounge was a bit dark and no views and bathroom arrangement wasn't as expected. It was mostly 2 of us and 1 dog so lots of room to spread out. Would go again, thank you.

This was our 6th visit to Prudhoe Mews and have always loved it, however we feel that it now needs a bit of maintenance. Our main problem was that the mattresses are very uncomfortable. Minor gripes with the sink in the shower room being very slow to drain, some of the crockery a bit chipped, and the tv is not great. Having said that we still had a lovely time , the location is superb and the cottage is generally well equipped. No doubt we will be back.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Prudhoe Mews. We would like to respond to the issues you raised. On seeing the comments in the guest book the morning you left (about the mattress) it was immediately replaced that day. The sink in the en-suite has been unblocked and is now running well. All new crockery has been installed this week too. The TV was OK when I tried it last week, I think the cable had been pulled out; we are applying to install Sky TV. All new bedding was put in the property this June (2018) and blackout blinds were fitted to all the windows at around the same time. Following your stay, I have had all the carpets cleaned and the whole property has been given a deep clean. I am installing a new fire / fireplace in the lounge too; this is waiting for a break in the booking calendar. The property will be decorated throughout at the end of the season, as soon as possible.
