English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

A white washed traditional thatched cottage with an enclosed garden and its very own hot tub! Stay in luxury whilst exploring the very best of Somerset.

Quintessentially English. This is the only way to describe this trio of holiday cottages. The charm of the outside is again reflected in the well-appointed and beautifully presented interior. Stone Barn (ref UKC3594) is a converted barn sleeping up to 6 guests and has been beautifully restored with two bedrooms downstairs, whilst the living room, dining room (with extendable dining table), kitchen, one bedroom and bathroom are upstairs, where you can enjoy the views. It also boasts a hot tub and an enclosed garden. Pilgrim Corner (ref EWQ) has four themed en-suite bedrooms (one bedroom is cosy), and an enclosed private garden complete with hot tub (bring your own towels). No corners have been cut to ensure guests have the best of everything during their stay. A tumble dryer is even provided for you to dry your own towels after using the hot tub. The Old Sweet Shop (ref UKC3164) has been sympathetically restored to maximise the cottage’s space, light and historical features. These include thick stone walls, a fabulous fireplace that now houses a large wood burner, exposed beams, a semi-circular staircase and leaded-light windows. They sit perfectly alongside the high quality fabrics and furnishings, kitchen with large dining table and modern appliances to offer guests every comfort. The Old Sweet Shop is suitable for families with children and groups of adults. Your four-legged friends are also more than welcome. The cottage also benefits from a sunny enclosed garden with lawn and seating area, and a large hot tub, just perfect for a relaxing soak after exploring this beautiful part of the world.
The convenient location means Minehead town centre and its sandy beach are within walking distance whilst the dramatic coast and moorland countryside is all a short drive away. There is a station within walking distance so guests can enjoy the steam trains of the West Somerset Railway. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on the moors, and many places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Looking towards Minehead there is the promenade to enjoy a walk and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and other amenities. A visit to the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (National Trust), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill will make for an interesting day out. Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area. Beach within 1 mile. Shops, pub and restaurant 800 yards.

The cottage is big with good sized double bedrooms with ensuites. Owners friendly and greeted us on arrival which was good. Only a 5 minute drive to the beech front and town centre. Totally enclosed garden which was ideal for our very small dogs and private which is ideal for using the hottub and sunbathing. Garden in the sun all day.

This cottage is beautiful and is located in a very pretty, peaceful village. Walk up to the church and you have the best view of Minehead; a 10 minute walk down the road and you're in Minehead town centre with all its amenities; a half hour walk (if that) leads you straight onto Exmoor national park. The house itself is old and charming and great for a large group. There are three large bedrooms upstairs all with ensuites and 1 large bedroom downstairs with a walk in shower room which was great for a member of our group who cannot manage stairs (there are 2 steps up into this room). It's a well equipped house with a washing machine and tumble dryer, 2 fridges and a freezer, 2 large dining tables and enough soft chairs in the sitting room for eight people. It has a log burner too. The garden is beautiful, is not overlooked and the hot tub adds that extra touch. At night you can sit in the tub looking up at the church which is lit up against an otherwise dark sky (Exmoor is a dark sky reserve and star gazing is a must). The owners are very friendly and very helpful and keen to make your stay enjoyable. The area is just stunning - there is so much to do. We didn't want to leave.
