This barn conversion provides a luxurious and romantic space for couples to run away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while.

Pheasants Hill Old Byre was once one of the cow barns of Pheasants Hill Farm, and is nestled adjacent to the owners’ home. The farm buildings date from the mid-18th century and comprise a traditional brick-and-flint farmhouse, an impressive range of outbuildings - barns, granary and cart shed. Originally belonging to the Hambleden Estate, it ceased being a working farm in 1962 and was purchased by the present owner’s father in 1968. The farm is situated in the renowned Hambleden Valley and lies within the Pheasants Hill Conservation Area, as well as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is under the protection of a National Trust covenant.
You will find mementoes of previous generations throughout the property. The owner’s grandfather was a master carver and you will be sleeping in a wonderful carved oak bed that he made for his own wedding in 1902 (but made super-comfortable with a brand new sprung base and orthopaedic mattress). The owner’s father was an artist and nearly all of the paintings and drawings in the property are his work.
The one-acre garden, shared with the owners, is fully enclosed (to keep the deer out). Guests can enjoy their own sitting area, with table and chairs provided. The garden is looked after without the use of pesticides or herbicides and is, in consequence, a haven for wildlife. The wildflower meadow is covered in cowslips in the spring and more than 100 Pyramid Orchids appear in the summer.
The owners are passionate about wildlife and the environment, and will be donating 15% of earnings on the property to local wildlife and conservation charities. Hot water and heating in the property uses electricity solely from renewable resources. Rainwater for the garden is collected in a large underground cistern. Shop/tea room and pub/restaurant ½ mile.

    A very well appointed and comfortable cottage, with lots of little extras supplied by the very friendly hosts. The area is great for walking and the supplied maps were extremely useful. There are also many interesting NT properties to visit nearby.

    We love this cottage second time visited. Lovely and clean,very comfy and in a perfect place for visiting the surrounding area, perfect for our dogs as some lovely walks close by.The owners are close by and can’t do enough for you exceptional hosts,a truly lovely place

    Lovely cottage very cosy. Loved the homemade cookies and marmalade.... lovely touch. The owners were very friendly and helpful as well as very knowledgeable regarding walks in the local area. Lots of lovely walks even on the doorstep. Would recommend calling at the Frog at Skirmett for a meal... excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back again.

    Very enjoyable stay. Wonderful walking area and we were blessed with good weather. The kitchen is very well appointed, lounge/ diner fine, superb bathroom and the bedroom, although a tad on the tight side, was very comfortable. The owners were very efficient, friendly and helpful in every way. We would have no hesitation in returning.
