Pear Tree Cottage is a good base for exploring Devon and Cornwall. A lovely clean and comfortable cottage in a very peaceful and relaxing location, which all the family and dog have enjoyed. Also very well equipped with attention to detail shown; and the addition of fresh flowers made the cottage even more beautiful. The owners are great hosts and the "welcome pack" was extremely generous. Many interesting places can be reached from Pear Tree Cottage, but we also enjoyed relaxing in the meadow.

A picturesque cottage in an idyllic location..the only sound you can hear are the birds singing in the trees..a relaxing away from it all retreat. Tastefully furnished and very well equipped. The hosts are very welcoming and as charming as the cottage itself. One word...superb.

We have had a wonderful holiday in Peartree Cottage, everything you could possibly want was there, the owners made us very welcome. Although the lane to the cottage was a bit of a nightmare (potholes etc) we managed to get out and about each day. Ideally located for visiting either north of south coasts. We would love to stay again. Added bonus it was dog friendly as owners have two of their own.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your scoring, and for the welcome comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Peartree Cottage and we do hope you will return, despite the potholes.... they were patched last year but the recent bad weather has opened them up again - I have no doubt we will be nagging the local Council again.

A fantastic rural retreat in the middle of the Devon countryside. I walked the dog numerous times along the lanes near the cottage & only the odd tractor or car would disturb your walk. Local amenities are slim, a tiny paper shop in Northlew, but supermarkets are only about 7 miles/10 minute drive away in Okehampton . The cottage is cosy with a well equipped kitchen & a very good hob & oven. The two en-suite bedrooms are excellent. Both are of good size (especially master bedroom) & have modern bathrooms with new showers. The bed are comfy with lovely linen & the owners have put a lot of thought into the decor of the cottage.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. We do advertise that the property is rural and there is a shop and pub 2 miles away. If guests want to enjoy the peace of quiet of rural living, they are not going to find supermarkets, etc., right on their doorstep. Northlew’s Village Shop is not just a paper shop, it may be tiny but you can obtain all the essentials such as bread and cakes, milk, vegetables, canned & packet foods, etc., even pet food. If guests want supermarkets, then there is a Co-op in Hatherleigh 6 miles away, and 3 supermarkets Waitrose, Lidl & Co-op in Okehampton which is 5 miles away. There is also a mobile Post Office in Northlew and a thriving village Pub where you can get good pub food at both lunchtimes and in the evenings. We are pleased that you enjoyed the cottage.

Ideal cottage if you want to travel around in Devon/Cornwall or make local walks and like a clean, quiet and safe place. The cottage is well equipped and everything is of high quality and new. The owners are very pleasant and allow you your privacy. The description of how to get there makes it look very remote and in the middle of nowhere but that is not so. Easy and quick to get to the main roads. We found the location stunning. Internet is slow but functions most of the time and is OK for email and light use. Not suitable if you require high speed access.
