Spent a relaxing weekend at the cottage, which provides a very good base from which to explore the local area, which is beautiful. The cottage is in a peaceful location with lovely views and the owners were very helpful and welcoming. There are nice villages and good pubs close by but limited amenities in the immediate vicinity. The cottage is cosy and worked well for two adults and would be fine for a family of 2 + 2 children, but would be very snug with 4 adults. It would have been helpful to have received detailed directions on how to find the cottage, which is tucked away but didn't receive any before arrival (in fairness, the owner also didn't receive an email sent by us regarding arrival time). We therefore called once in the vicinity and got a full postcode and some helpful pointers - definitely advisable to arrive in daylight! Overall a really enjoyable weekend break.

My experience staying at Oxlowend Cottage wasn’t a good one unfortunately. It is neither clean or comfortable..the windows haven’t been cleaned for years and the exposed pipes in the bathroom were dusty and grimy. The stairs are an accident waiting to happen !!!iAfter a day walking in the beautiful Peak District stretching out on a comfy sofa would have been lovely..but not here !! The smallest sofa imaginable awaits plus 2upright chairs ..great for the posture I suppose .I hope this review saves other people from making the mistake that we made.
