Very comfortable and well equipped. One of the best cottages that we have experienced.

This cottage is the ideal get-away retreat if you're looking for peace and quiet. We used it as a base from which to visit various National Trust properties in the area, and the nearest town of Newark. The ambiance of the rooms is homely and each room is nicely 'dressed'. The night sky was full of stars! No light pollution here! Parking is right outside the cottage door with plenty of space for 2 cars if needed. Mornings started early though, due to the 'Cockerel Gang'! All in all a lovely place and one we wouldn't hesitate to use again, if we were looking to stay in that area of the country.

From start to finish, Ostlers Cottage exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. We had everything we could have possibly needed from milk in the fridge, a water bowl for the dog and comfy sofas all in a peaceful countryside setting. The dog was kept amused scrumping for apples in the large adjoining orchard garden which was safe and secure. The lounge was stunning and extremely spacious, with exposed original beams throughout the cottage and a feature fireplace with log burner (which we didn't need in August!) The area surrounding the cottage has many small charming villages, and several times we were greeted by a villager with a friendly wave! We would 100% recommend Ostlers Cottage and will definitely be back for a return visit!

The weather was very hot so had lots of flies and storm bugs. The bedrooms were in the roof, so did not seem to cool down over night. In normal circumstances the cottage would be ideal.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for staying at our property. As you can see in the photographs, the bedrooms are not in the roof, the cottage just appears that way as we do not have any attic space. As for the room not cooling down, you were staying at our property during the summer heatwave. A few flies being present would not have been unusual as it was a warm environment for them and we are located in the countryside. Thank you for leaving your comments and we do hope to see you again sometime.
