The cottage has not been upgraded for a very long time. The electricity is not adequate for the modern day - the wall lights don't give enough light to read by (the lounge has pine trees just outside which obscure the natural daylight). The lounge plug-in heater doesn't work when another lamp is on, it just cuts out. The cooker was clean but ancient and in order to use a hairdryer one had to unplug the bedroom heater. In winter this property would be freezing. The guttering was overflowing when it rained. With a wet day on our hands, we felt miserable there and decided to return home early. The owner was approachable though.

Such a beautiful cottage in a perfect location. Such a quiet place to stay and relax. Very clean and the garden is wonderful to sit out in. Not far from places for a day out. Enjoyed every moment.

Had a really lovely week at Oaklawn. The location is idyllic, in a quiet (so quiet) estate. The owners were friendly and welcoming but never obtrusive. The cottage is old so lacks mod-cons but that’s not why we booked it - it’s an old cottage in the heart of Suffolk and it’s great. Located close to lovely Eye and useful Diss but a good 50 min drive to Southwold/Aldeburgh. Would recommend for sure
