Oozing with charm this converted school has a cosy multi-fuel burner to keep you warm and a terraced garden to relax in the sun.

This beautifully restored, detached former village school dates back to 1895 and offers a unique and interesting base from which to enjoy the stunning south Kilkenny countryside. Oozing character and charm inside, whilst outside the terraced gardens and seating areas boast stunning panoramic views stretching for miles. Saint Moling’s Holy Well, an area of natural and stunning beauty, is close to the cottage. It is a peaceful retreat and its holy water has been known to cure in the past. Within a 10-minute drive is the picturesque riverside village of Inistioge, known as the ’Jewel of the South East’ and where many films have been made, including ’Circle of Friend’, ’Widows Peak’ and ’The Secret Scripture’. The cottage lies 15 minutes from the main Waterford to Dublin motorway, and Mount Juliet with its fine golf course. The neighbouring counties of Waterford and Wexford can be reached within 20 minutes. New Ross is close by with its famous Dunbrody Famine Ship and visitor centre, and of course the John F. Kennedy Monument and Memorial Park. Wexford has some beautiful beaches to explore, or visit Reginald’s Tower Exhibition Centre and a crystal factory with guided tours at Waterford. For hill walking, the South Leinster Way is nearby, and for fishing, there are great fishing villages on the River Nore. A little further a field is vibrant medieval Kilkenny city, where numerous festivals are held throughout the year, including Cat’s Laugh Comedy, Roots Music and art festivals to name but a few. It offers fine dining and traditional music including one of Ireland’s most haunted pubs! Shop and pub 3½ miles, restaurant 5 miles.

Beautifully restored historic school building. Surrounding area is stunning and so peaceful with amazing views from the cottage. Walks along the lanes to meet the cows were a 'must'. The owner was simply lovely and so welcoming - and the unexpected provisions (milk, bread, butter, eggs etc) left for our arrival was such a treat!

Difficult to rate local amenities, since the cottage is literally in the middle of nowhere! I wouldn’t wish for this to put a negative slant on the review. The cottage is very well appointed. It is clean and has every appliance and utensil that you would need, in order to stay comfortably away from home. Views are spectacular and the peace and quiet was exactly what we needed, in order to recharge our batteries. Lighting the log-burning stove in the evenings was a real treat! Nothing is too much trouble for the owner and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again, or to recommend it to others.

Perfect place to relax and unwind. Such a beautiful and quiet spot but close enough to jump on a motorway and explore the wonderful emerald isle. The views from the cottage are stunning and everything for a perfect stay is supplied. Lorraine, our host, was wonderful. The cottage is more than perfect in every way, and we look forward to a return visit. Cannot rate this property high enough, simply perfect...... We didn't want to go home!

If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful location then this cottage is for you. Very secluded with the nearest neighbouring farm, half a mile away. You do need a car. We wanted for nothing, well equipped kitchen, fresh farm eggs, milk, cereals, butter and freshly made soda bread was just items provided to make us feel very welcome. Lorraine greeted us and showed us around the cottage and reassured us that if there was anything we wanted help with, we could ring her anytime.

Ideal location for us as we planned to explore the area around Kilkenny, New Ross and Waterford. Lorraine very helpful and welcoming. Cottage had everything we needed for our 3 night stay.

A very nice location in the quiet countryside with all of the amenities we needed. The bed was a little hard and the wi-fi spotty. Beautiful view from the house. Cute and cozy inside.
