A beautiful and comfortable cottage. All amenities were available. The bed was a little soft for us, but that’s just personal preference.

The tea pot lid was broken so making it very difficult to use. The low doors were not marked as mind your head. Even I bashed my head a number of times it hurt. Health and safety. There was no shower only a hand held one. Not very efficient either it was loose and turned around whilst using it. And no leaflets or information of the walks or what there was to do around the cottage we had to find out for ourselves. And lastly the WiFi code was not very clear. !!!!

Not for old bones or large cars. Let me explain. The cottage is a compact period cottage in a hamlet that has excellent access to the coastal paths. Acton is a very quiet and serene hamlet of solidly built abodes mostly built for another age. Being small the cottage has very low doorways and small rooms as expected, the furniture is functional rather than comfortable. Its difficult to recover from a days hiking, hence not for old bones. The garden is sweet but could do with the touch of a gardener. It is contained but our mutts could get through the gate and I had to improvise to block it off. The cottage is good for your dogs as it has tiled floors throughout, easy to keep clean. Although listed as with private parking, this is not quite the truth. There is no parking for this cottage, being on the unmade approach road/track of the hamlet. It is suggested that you can park on the verge close by, but this is partly on the road/track and large vehicles can pass by on occasion as would the rest of the neighbors in the hamlet. The large house is also owned by the same people so it is offered that you can park in their driveway however this would be largely down to the goodwill of whoever is staying at that house at the time. Access to this house is restricted and it takes some careful maneuvers if your vehicle is large. Hence not for large vehicles. Nearest shops/pubs are a stiff walk in either direction in Worth Matravers or Langton Matravers. The pub in each village is aimed at locals, food is basic. There is a terrific tea and lunch shop in Worth Matravers, not open in the evening but serves cuisine of the highest quality and has a drinks license as well. We had to discover all this a more ourselves, it would be good if the cottage had a day book where previous visitors could share their recommendations. The larger area of the Isle of Purbeck has fantastic scenery, coastline and pathways. So the cottage will not be for everyone, but you decide.

Although a good setting and not far from Corfe castle and Swanage , I would expect for the money we were paying to be able to have a proper shower. It was nice to have a private garden. Also to have extra for electricity is not something I have come across before.

beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Close to shops pubs etc and some great walks around the area. v low door frames and ceilings so be careful there. dog friendly back garden , could have done with a gate at the front entrance though so we could have left the front door open and not lost pooch. good wifi signal

The cottage was good and the location is fab. It was chilly though so do be prepared to use the log burner. It would have been really helpful to have a folder in the cottage with info about how to use the heating, bin collection days plus local amenities. WiFi wasn’t great, which was ok for us but could have been tricky if you needed to work. Parking was to be in the yard next door but there was a large party staying with many cars so there wasn’t space for us. This might not be typical though. we had a problem with the hot water and this was sorted on the same day, which was much appreciated. Very comfy bed and great location for walking. There’s also a bus stop at the end of the road.

A lovely cottage with all the amenities you need and a well equipped kitchen, just a 20 minute walk down to Dancing Ledge and the coastal path. Just a very short drive to Swanage where there are plenty of shops and pubs. The cottage is very cold in the evenings, but there are heaters. Bring your dog's bed and a pair of slippers as the tiled floors are also very cold

We really enjoyed our stay at Mulberry Cottage, this was our first time to the cottage but we have visited the area previously. It provided a good base from which to explore the area and is ideally situated, close to Swanage but also with good easy travel connections to other lovely locations in Dorset. Plenty of heating devices as well as the log burner meant we were comfortable despite the slightly chilly autumn weather. We will definitely make a return visit in future.
