We booked this cottage for my husbands 40th as a surprise. There was 2 couples and had the most amazing time. The cottage is magical and gives the right amount of village life combined with city of York! The village has 2 pubs/bars serving food plus an Indian restaurant/takeaway, local Shop and chip shop. About 15 min walk to the pub and bus stop where you can get the local bus in to York. The hosts paul and Maggi are exceptional. There is thought in everything they do and the well stocked welcome hamper in a nice touch. Even the bathroom has a selection of shampoos and shower gels! We have made some great memories here and will definitely be back.

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of private places to sit. The private garden is a sun trap for late afternoon drinks and barbecues. The hamper provided by Paul and Maggie was both a surprise and delight. The cottage was well supplied with everything you will need. We are regular cottage users and to have extra supplies of shower gel, shampoo, toilet rolls, tea, coffee etc was thoughtful and unusual. The owners are lovely people who can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. There is plenty to do locally and beyond. Recommend.

Really comfortable homely cottage in truly beautiful grounds. Well equipped cottage with lovely extras including a generous welcome basket. There really was everything we could have needed. Fabulous location for visiting York, Castle Howard, Lavender Farm and the beautiful Yorkshire coastline. It was my mother’s first holiday since her cancer left her disabled and the cottage was perfect for her mobility problems. Paul and Maggi could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We had a fabulous break and will happily return again.

A great place to stay in a very picturesque part of Britain. Maggi and Paul couldn't do enough for us and made us really welcome. The cottage, although small, was warm, well equipped and comfortable, and we had access to the grounds and to a walled area that would be fabulous on a summer's evening. We would definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

A great cottage - just what we wanted, especially suited my elderly Mother. Very warm, helpful and friendly hosts. Nothing was a bother. Very generous hamper supplied, a lovely surprise. Excellent value for money could not have asked for anything else in the cottage. The grounds were magical. Peaceful and picturesque. Large private outside space for the cottage. Will certainly return to this lovely relaxing place and area. Many thanks to Maggie and Paul.

The best of hosts, very welcoming but not intrusive. The personalised food hamper was a real surprise and really yummy, and Paul and Maggi have certainly gone the extra mile to ensure visitors have everything that they might need when away from home. The cottage is perfect for a couple or small family. Children will find the property particularly magical with its fairy lights and expansive garden for games but there are 2 ponds and the river at the bottom of the garden, so they will need to be supervised, if very small. York itself and the wider area has an abundance of places to visit, and all great, the Railway Museum was fabulous and is free entry and although the carpark costs £10 it is for the whole day and with York Minster and other attractions in York within reasonable walking distance makes it good value for money. Thank you Paul & Maggi, you're attention to detail and generosity certainly made our stay more memorable. We will be back - still so much to see and do.

We stayed in this comfortable , well-equipped cottage to celebrate a family birthday. We had use of a large, private walled garden and the extensive grounds around the house including a wooded area with a fire pit and fairy lights . The owners Paul and Maggi couid not have been more helpful. Paul built us a wonderful fire, and they even supplied extra bedding for friends who decided to camp in the grounds! They were so accommodating when our plans had to change last minute and by the end of our stay felt more like friends than hosts! We will most definitely return! Thank you Paul and Maggi; you ensured a wonderful stay!
