Meadowcroft House is a former gentleman’s residence built in 1908. Over the last century it has been used as a school and hotel before being converted into a stunning complex of apartments. Meadowcroft No 4 is a first floor apartment with three bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. The spacious living/dining room enjoys winter views of the lake and a short walk brings you to its shores where you can watch the boats sailing by. There are two acres of grounds including mature trees, manicured lawns, shrubberies and more natural areas to enjoy and an all-weather tennis court is available for guests use. For the less energetic, the gardens are large enough for a leisurely stroll and are full of birds, rabbits and the occasional deer. Meadowcroft is a five minute short drive to Bowness with it’s shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, a local supermarket, and the Beatrix Potter Centre. Bowness-on-Windermere is one of the most popular locations in the Lake District. Situated midway down Lake Windermere, a long promenade skirts the lake with views over a busy harbour where pleasure cruisers arrive and depart taking visitors up and down the lake. The town has a vibrant, bustling atmosphere, especially in the summer months and a superb lakeside setting with lovely views across and down the lake. A car ferry runs to the far side of the lake taking visitors to Sawrey and Hawkshead, or you can take a trip on one of the steamers north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside. There is plenty to see and do including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Steamboat Museum, as well as an 18 hole ‘pitch and putt’ and sailing marinas. Bowness provides a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as a wide range of shops, all within easy reach. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
Meadowcroft No 4 can be booked together with Meadowcroft No 7 (CC128228) to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Lovely spacious apartment, part of a stunning property. The gardens are extensive and very well kept, the tennis court is a bonus. Good location a few minutes drive or 20 minutes walk to Bowness and all it’s amenities . Highly recommended.

The cottage is great, it’s in a great location about 15 mins from the town centre, although so of the walk is down a road without a pavement. The cottage is very well equipped and spacious, it was clean and well maintained with some ware and tear but nothing unexpected.

The accommodation is very good, it is the ideal holiday setting and the kitchen has a vast array of utensils. With three en-suite bedrooms you could not ask for better, and there is ample space for three families with very large sitting rooms which are joined through folding doors. It was however let down by some of the cleanliness, there were dead flies and other dead insects on the window ledge in the sittingroon and not just a small amount. In addition the worktop in the kitchen was covered in a brown like powdery substance. The first bedroom linen is best described as being rather tired and in need of changing along with the pillows. All in all just a few simple changes could make this just perfect.
