Description

With access to the owner’s outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis court, Manor Cottage occupies an ideal location in the village of Stiffkey.

Set in the picturesque coastal village of Stiffkey and just 5 minutes from Wells-next-the-Sea, this detached holiday cottage provides light and airy accommodation with lots of original features. Originally a barn belonging to the manor house, it enjoys a peaceful setting with seasonal access to the owner’s outdoor heated swimming pool and year-round access to their tennis court. Stiffkey offers access to the sea via its famous and much photographed salt marshes, and is famous for its Stewkey Blues; plump and tasty cockles, which are blue in colour due to the mud in which they live.

This whole part of the North Norfolk Coastline offers a range of picturesque seaside villages and towns, salt marshes, shingle beaches and wide golden sands that are perfect for sun bathing, relaxing or for bracing walks. Whichever way you travel from Stiffkey, you will find much to see and do. Its closest and arguably most popular neighbour is Well-next-the-Sea, with its narrow gauge railway, pretty quayside and mix of artisan and traditional seaside shops, cafes and restaurants. Further along lies Holkham, home to Holkham Hall and a beautiful beach that featured in the film Shakespeare in Love. Hunstanton boasts a Sea Life Sanctuary, a small fairground and lots of traditional seaside entertainment for parents and children alike. To the east, Blakeney offers the chance to take a boat trip to see the seal colonies, and it’s also a prime spot for crabbing. The bustling seaside towns of Sheringham and Cromer are a must-visit during your stay, with their fantastic beaches and a famous pier. History buffs will find that along with Holkham Hall, The Sandringham Estate and Blickling Hall (NT) are within easy reach as well.

When you feel like a change of pace, you can head to the medieval city of Norwich, or follow the Hanseatic Trail through old King’s Lynn. Add in RSPB sites and a wealth of wildlife reserves, great walks and cycle routes, tasty restaurants and charming cafés, and you’ll see exactly why this part of Norfolk remains a very popular choice for holiday goers. After a busy day exploring, you will find that Manor Cottage is just the place to relax, unwind and dream of adventures yet to come. Beach ½ mile. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Fantastic place, children loved the added attraction of the swimming pool use. The shower was alittle tempremental but on the whole a pleasant place to stay and relax

This cottage needs updating. Although it has a family cosy feel there are aspects of it that need attending to. The cooker is old, the shower head cannot be reached so the hand held shower has to be used. There are electric extensions everywhere because there are not enough power points for a modern family e.g hair dryers etc.. And on top to all of that we were thoroughly disappointed that we couldn’t sit out around the pool as the outside furniture attracted so many flies and wasps it made the whole exercise intolerable. This was due to not being maintained after being used by a family with children the time before. We also couldn’t open the windows, we did ask for a window key and were told that one would be purchased. All in all we wouldn’t used this cottage again.

Lovely cottage and friendly owner. Didn't get the weather or time for pool or tennis but great to know they were there. Great walks with the dogs and perfect for going off grid.

We enjoyed a lovely week at Manor Cottage. We had good weather and found the location perfect for exploring North Norfolk. The village store was within walking distance to buy milk, bread and a paper. The only problem we had was with the oven, the owner put us on the right track.!!

A very nice cottage for all ages. The owners are very helpful and friendly and were there to welcome us. The cottage was as it was described and we were very happy. Go stay and enjoy. We did not use the pool as weather was cold.

The cottage needed to be updated and spring cleaned. The location of two of the bedrooms was too near to the road and consequently noisy early in the morning due to traffic.
