Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. This terraced holiday property has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a fantastic hot tub and comfortable accommodation ideal for families, friends or couples. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more). There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles. Shop and pub 3 miles, restaurant 3¾ miles.
Wren Cottage can be booked together with Kite Cottage (CC632040), Owl Cottage (CC632041), Robin Cottage (CC632042), The Lodge (CC632044) and Kingfisher (UK6278) to accommodate up to 27 guests.

before arriving me and my partner were not sure exactly what to take with us, stuff to wash the dishes, towels, tea bags and stuff but we were very happy to find all was provided. The guy showed us everything we needed straight away and covered any concerns we had. I feel the cottage was a bit nicer than the photos suggested inside. The owner also made some suggestions on places to visit and we saw some wonderful places all within an hour of the cottage. 4 nights was perfect to fit it all in and it was a shame to leave. Thank you so much for the stay and I can see why it has such a high rating. Would recommomend to anyone

Delightful cottage in tucked away location. Great base for walking and exploring the area. Nice range of shops, pubs etc locally. Red Kite feeding was breathtaking and the best stretches of the Brecon way close by. Watching woodpeckers from the hot tub a great way to end the day. Can't wait to go back!

A very enjoyable holiday, the owners have thought of everything to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The cottage is well equipped with plenty of room for 2 or 3 persons. The shower room is clean and modern, if a little snug for the more well built or some one with mobility problems. Mary & Shaun are very welcoming and helpful, there is plenty of information in the cottage about the area to help you plan your days out. The only negative for us was the sofa and chair in the lounge which are not very comfortable, being very low. The hot tub is well maintained and a big plus offering comfort and relaxation after a day out site seeing or walking.

Myself, my partner and our 8 month old had an amazing stay at wren cottage. The cottage is packed full of everything you need for your stay. Plenty of fresh towels, lots of pots, pans and cutlery and the convenience of a laundry room 20 feet away. The even provided a cot bed and high chair for the baby and had fresh milk, tea bags, coffee and sugar in the cupboard. Very relaxing with an amazing hot tub and stunning views. Lots of excursions nearby and supermarkets. We cannot thank Mary and Shaun enough for their help after our car broke down 7 hours from home! We would love to return one day. Cannot recommend this lovely cottage with lovely owners enough! 10 stars!
