Description

Beamed, rural cottage for couples, with Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway close by, Hastings and Rye nearby.

These two pretty, beamed, semi-detached holiday cottages, (refs 27442 and 27443) with mezzanine floor, have been attractively converted from former cow byres and are set in the owners’ 14-acre small holding which is home to farm animals including sheep and pigs. On-site is a small children’s play area. A 10-minute walk across the fields brings you into Sedlescombe with its village green and traditional country pub. In close proximity to Battle, with its famous battlefield and abbey, built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Relive one of the most famous days in history, and join the 1066 walk from the doorstep. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Tenterden, (also know as ’The Jewel of the Weald’), through the Rother Levels to Bodiam, one of the most evocative moated castles (NT), built in 1385. Discover the one time coastal smuggling town of Hastings and medieval Cinque Port town of Rye with its cobbled streets. Picturesque sand dunes and interesting wildlife can be explored at Camber. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile. Properties 27442 and 27443 can be booked to together to accommodate up to 4 guests. I've los count of how many times I've been here how - I had a great time as always, and my cat is always at home the moment she arrives. Penny and Andrew very welcoming as always - and added bonus, I helped with the chickens and bottle fed one of the lambs every morning.

Quince cottage was the perfect getaway. It provided a real sense of being in the country. The cottage was charming and our hosts very welcoming. The local pub served amazing food. We would definitely like to stay there again.

Very sweet cottage. Owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Perfect for a short break and in a good location to see some local sights. Very nice courtyard garden shared with the other holiday cottage. We didn't bring pets but it would have been perfect for a dog or two. Bedroom is small as described but comfortable bed. Not suitable for anyone with poor mobility. Only thing that would have been helpful is a baking tray in the kitchen as there was only the grill tray to use. Would recommend and would stay again.

We've just returned from a really enjoyable week's stay here. The cottage was cosy and warm and a perfect base to explore Sussex. There's an excellent village pub only a short walk away. We hope to return in the spring.
