With these open-plan studios, you enter each hut and have a great space with double bed, double sofa bed (for children), Smart TV, wee dining area and a brilliant kitchenette. The shower room in each hut is a very good size. Stepping into the huts, you’re taken aback at the space within- they’re cavernous! The forethought of the owners has gone so far that they’ve created a fourth hut as a laundry/drying area for the many people hiking and biking across the islands. It’s an incredibly useful space that hardly anywhere else offers. There’s a dehumidifier and drying racks to ensure your hiking and biking gear is clean and dry by the next morning! It’s the perfect place to stop for those cycling and walking the Hebridean Way that officially finishes in Stornoway. Walkers and cyclists will love Hebridean Holiday Huts!
The huts suit everyone though because the location is so good, just a few minutes’ walk away from the Lews Castle and museum, and you can visit the market in town for local produce and crafts each Saturday. On the outskirts of Stornoway, you’re only a short walk to the centre of town, and being in a central location, you can easily explore the world-famous sights on the Lewis and Harris. The Callanish Standing Stones are only a twenty-minute drive away, the Blackhouse Village at Garenin is under half an hour by car, Uig Bay where the Lewis Chessmen were found is only forty-five minutes’ drive, and you can be walking along the white sandy shores of mesmerising Luskentyre Beach on Harris in under an hour.
Having Stornoway within easy walking distance is really where you can go out for food and drinks and avoid a hefty taxi trip home. Stornoway has some great things to see and do, including hiring bikes, enjoying a round of golf at the excellent Stornoway Golf Club, established in 1890, great value fly fishing for salmon, sea trout and wild brown trout on the River Creed and surrounding Stornoway lochs. An event to be aware of is the Heb Celt Fest in mid-July 2022 (please pre-book), and there are many agricultural shows and highland games to attend throughout the summer months.
The Hebridean Holiday Huts are an excellent choice for a two-night stopover, a short break or even a week-long holiday. The accommodation is of a great standard and the location is perfect for those Hebridean voyagers visiting the isles! Please ensure that you have booked your ferry/plane first before booking your accommodation- due to covid19 there are restrictions in place and these tend to be fully booked in advance, especially in the summer months.
Lewis can be booked together with Harris (UK34048) and Uist (UK34049) to accommodate up to 6 adults and 6 children.
