A delightful cottage away from it all but within easy reach of a quiet pub/restaurant, the coast and many interesting places to visit. Thankfully no wi-fi so a lovely peaceful place to unwind and get away from it all. Books, games and DVDs were all on hand if needed. Phone signal is poor but we soon found that standing in the patio area usually provided what signal we needed and, once again, it was good to get away from everyday life. Very clean and equipment spotless. We have been before and hope to go again.

This was the second time we have stayed here and love the quite village location, theres a nice dog friendly pub with wi fi just yards away that does good food. The bus stop for the coastal bus is just past the pub. It is only a short walk into Craster on footpaths and pavement. The cottage is well equipped and the small enclosed patio area gets the sun and makes a nice place to relax after a day out, it is also handy if you have a dog.

Larch Cottage is situated in a lovely village and is within easy access of the beautiful Northumberland Heritage Coastline. However, although the cottage is very nice to look at, it is very dark inside and I feel in need of an upgrade and a new kitchen. If the weather had been bad then I would have felt quite depressed being stuck inside as it was so dark. The bedrooms were clean and bright but there is a very low angled ceiling in the main bedroom which my husband walked straight into in the night. There had been no warning about that. One of the most frustrating things was no Wi-Fi, again this had not been indicated, so we had to sit in the pub just down the road to use their Wi-Fi. Also very poor reception for phone, only able to pick up a signal in the garden. As my husband has had previous health issues I am not happy to be without adequate phone and Wi-Fi connection. The advert on the website had stated that there are 2 off road parking spaces. More often than not we could not park our one car in any of the spaces which are also used by the other cottages in the row. The owner had a van parked there the whole week and on numerous occasions we were forced to park behind this, which on one occasion a family who had been having lunch in the pub and parked in a space, reversed into our new car. On the day we arrived we noticed a very active wasps' nest right outside the only door to the property. I telephoned the owner and they appeared quite quickly and said they would contact the Council the following Monday. The owner then tried to plug the holes in the wall with putty but to no effect, so there were angry wasps there the whole week with no sign of the Council, which given the lovely weather, made it difficult to sit outside as the wasps were particularly drawn to the old wooden patio furniture. No welcome pack left for our arrival. We visit Northumberland every year and are very familiar with the area and as our usual accommodation was not available for the week we wanted, we felt Larch Cottage would be perfect as we have a small dog and the small enclosed garden was ideal but we were very disappointed. The Cottage Inn down the road was excellent with a good menu, also the cottage is on a bus route. I feel if it was upgraded and had Wi-Fi and even a pay phone fitted, then I am sure it could reach its full potential.
