Our family has a great stay at the cottage. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather - something that cannot be relied on in Scotland - and this made a difference as we could sit out and enjoy the sunshine when not out and about. The cottage is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but there as shops a few miles down the road for food etc. Great location for heading out for walks or seeming ancient monuments. Peaceful, away from it all, clean & comfy. All in all highly recommended.

A lovely tranquil setting, with horses in the field next door and the sound of the nearby water. Just what I needed.

Ideal place for a quiet get-away. About five miles to Lochgilphead which has all the amenities you'd require. The Crinan canal is near by, where you can watch the world passing at a slower pace.

Spectacular location. Huge enclosed gated garden front and back with a burn at the bottom of back garden which my 5 year old son loved fishing in - not too deep (30cm max). He made friends instantly with the 2 amazing horses next door (Sparky and Toots) and spent hours feeding and playing with them. Kirnan Cottage was spacious - best features were the garden and the bedrooms which were very comfortable. Living room and dining kitchen were very clean and comfortable but a bit dated. Toilet/Shower room - shower was very basic - could do with a better one if not a bath as well - it felt like a caravan shower room to be honest. There are so many interesting and amazing places to see within a few miles - Kilmory Knapp (Best beach in the world!), Castle Sween, Crinan Canal, Carnasserie Castle, Kilmartin Standing Stones and Templewood Stone Circle, Dunadd, Ardrishaig Pier for mackerel fishing, Lochgilphead (5mins away) for nearest supermarket (Co-op) as well as a great fish and chippy (Argyle Cafe), steer clear of the Chinese Take-away -absolutely terrible!, a great fishing shop where you can buy the best midge repellent I've ever used called Trek which kept them away! Tayvallich Inn for great food, nearest pub which serves food is The Horseshoe Inn at Kilmichael Glassary - again steer clear - terrible food and unfriendly owner! There is no mobile phone signal or wifi at the cottage at all so if you're in desperate need of your phone etc then the nearest place that you pick up emails and texts on your phone is about a mile away - I was unable to send texts or emails at all for a week, but could make phone calls from Lochgilphead. We had such a great time and would return to Kirnan Cottage anytime. It's an incredibly peaceful setting with loads of wildlife such as horses, deer, birds of prey etc. Loads to do come rain or shine. Mrs Ferguson and family were very welcoming hosts. We hope to return again next year if not sooner!!
